Chapter 6

Maddie's P.O.V

PRESENT

I have a duty right now and i have a surgery later. When Dr. Martinez call me in her office.

"Dr. Madayag have a sit." 

"Thank you Dr." I said and smiled at her.

"Before you guys leave for your medical operation in the Philippines i need you to operate this patient. Maddie your the only person that i trust and i know, the operation will be succesful if you are the one who will operate him." Dr. Martinez told me. He gave me the the patients profile.

"Who is he Dr. Martinez?" I asked her.

"He's my first love, but maybe in another lifetime. I didn't tell him my real feeling towards him. I didn't know that the is time is ticking and i saw how he fell in love with the right person." She said. So he's the person that Dr. Martinez keep telling me when i was an intern.

"But you know that once i did the surgery, there is a possibility that he will lose his memories about you." I reminded her.

"I know. I can still accept that, i know it will be the consequence. But i can't operate him, i just i can't because it hurts me maddie. I know we should set aside our feelings towards to our patient but maddie. But maddie i don't think i can do it." Her voice cracked. 

"Okay Dr. Martinez. I'm going to operate him." I said and smiled at me.

"I know maddie you will accept that. I'm going to talk to her wife later. Thank you maddie."

"Dr. Martinez are you okay?" 

"I am. I should really forget him so that i can move forward." 

Pagkatapos ng usap namin ni Dr. Martinez ay naghanda na ako para sa susunod na operation ko. Majoy called me a while ago that after my duty diresto daw ako sa Felice Restaurant. Hula ko nasa mall na naman yung dalawang yun.

Mabilis yung naging operation, kaya nag palit na ako ng damit at pumunta na sa parking area para mag drive papuntang Felice. Naabutan ko yung dalawa na nag chismis na naman at madaming pinamili. Umupo ako sa tabi ni eya, nakapag order na sila ng pagkain kaya maghihintay nalang kami.

"Ate maddie uuwi pala kayo hindi niyo sinasabi. Sabi ko naman kila mommy na uuwi ako mga next week pa. Ano ba yan!" Sabi sa amin ni eya.

"Eh hindi ka naman nagtatanong atyaka hindi kami doon basta magbabakasyon. Kailangan nila ng mga doctor doon." Sabi ko.

"Maddie kailan ka mag aayos ng gamit mo. Hindi pa ako nakaka impake. Yung maleta ko sira." 

"May extra ako isa lang. Pero pwede ilagay nalang natin yung ibang gamit mo sa maleta ni eya. Since uuwi naman siya pag uwi natin dito. Btw may operation ako bukas. Kaya padala nalang ako ng maleta ko." 

"Huh? Eh bukas na yung alis natin bakit may isang surgery ka pa?" Tanong ni majoy.

"Dr. martinez talk to me kanina. She can't do the surgery kaya binigay niya sa akin." 

Mabuti naman at hindi na nagtanong si Majoy. Dumating na din kasi yung pagkain namin. Pagkatapos namin kumain ay umuwi na kami agad kasi nakakapagod talaga ang araw na ito. I prepared my things for tomorrow flight. I can't sleep kaya pumunta ako sa may balcony. Nandito pala si eya.

"Ate maddie bat gising ka pa?" Binalik ko din yung tanong niya sa akin tumawa lang kami.

"Mabuti pa kayong tatlo nila majoy nahanap niyo na yung the one niyo. Ako, hawak ko na noon pinakawalan ko pa." I look at city lights.

"Ay ate maddie ikaw ah. Ate maddie mabuti nalang at hindi mo kinuha yung cardiologist. Pero kasi ate maddie nakakainis ka ang selfish mo kasi kahit nasasaktan ka na hindi mo pinapakita alam mo tama nga yung sabi sa akin ni ate majoy talaga underrated yung ship niyong dalawa pero may something pala talaga sa totoo buhay." 

"Kasi alam kong mas happy siya sa iba. Makikita mo yun sa mata niya." Sabi ko at ngumiti sa kanya.

"Ate maddie minsan gusto kitang sampalin para magising ka sa katotohanan. Palagi mo iniisip yung nararamdaman ng iba pero yung sarili mo hindi." Sabi niya sa akin. 

"You should be kind to the people even thought they hurt you. The world is harsh to other people and i guess I'm part of that." 

Kinabukasan ay naghanda na ako. I need to stay here first to check the patient. Pumunta na akong hospital, dumiresto ako agad kay Dr. Martinez. Nandito yung pamilya.

"This is Dr. Madayag she will be the one who will operate John." Dr. Martinez introduce me. Nakipagkamayan ako sa kanila.

"You don't need to worry. We just need to pray and asked him that the operation will be succesful." I told them.

"Thank you. You take care of my husband. Please the kids still needs him." I think she's the wife of my patient.

"I will do my best to for now, let's just pray." 

The nurse message me that the surgery should start within 10 minutes. 

"Dr. Madayag, i trust you. I know you can." She said and tapped my shoulder. I look at her.

"I will be fine, Maddie for now please save him." She said. 

Huminga muna ako ng malalim bago pumasok sa operating room. 

"Let's do our best and save him, even he can't remember anything after this operation." I said.

You can do it maddie!

"Scalpel."

After the 5 hours. The operation was successful and i already told the family that later on he will wake up soon. Pumunta ako kay Dr. Martinez, pagpasok ko ay umiiyak siya. It's my first time to see her cry. I went to her immediately.

"Doc the operation was successful." I informed her.

"I don't know if i will be happy or not for what you said." I tapped her back.

"Doc everything will be alright in the right time." I told her.

"Thank you maddie. I mean it. I hope i can recover to this pain." 

"I know you will. Your strong Dr. Martinez." I said.

"Maddie if you love someone, fight for that person. Don't make the same mistake that i did."
