Chevel’s POV
“Gyth?!” I exclaimed in surprise as Elil’s prediction happened in a matter of minutes. My mouth parted in awe at how the badges works wonders.
“Chevel.. What in the hell happened?” Gyth asked, chasing his breath as he held my arm and studied me from head to toe. He must’ve went here in a hurry.
His eyes instantly widened upon drifting to my hands that are covered in bandage.
Before I could even respond, his eyes suddenly darted towards Elil who’s sitting closely beside me and my breath trembled with my hands upon seeing the look in his eyes.
“Elil..” He said with gritted teeth.
“Gyth.” Elil responded and I glanced between the two men, surprised that they know each other’s name.
“What have you done, you bastard!” Gyth said charging towards Elil, as he reached for his collar and pushed him against the wall.
Flustered, I stood frozen as Gyth landed a powerful punch on Elil’s face causing him to stumble on the floor.
“Gyth!” I called out as he continuously landed punches after punches.
“Stop!” I cried out wrapping my arms around Gyth’s waist as he towered on top of Elil.
His eyes are clouded and dark as if he’s a different person, as if he’s not even here. I haven’t seen Gyth resorting to violence and I’d be deceiving myself if I said I didn’t felt the least terrified. But at the same time, I’m worried.
Worried that he’ll be consumed by anger.
“Chevel..” Gyth instantly halted, turning to face me.
“Gyth stop..” I said as I grabbed his hands, pulling him up to stand.
“Gyth it wasn’t him. The glass bottle slipped from my hands.” I hurriedly explained to him and enclasped him in my arms.
I glanced over Elil on the floor and his face is bruised from the punches with the edge of his lips bleeding.
“I’m sorry.” I mouthed towards Elil who’s barely looking back at me.
“There he is.” A voice said from the wide-opened door. I spin around to find Lilith’s henchmen in a groggy state as they approach us and behind them stood Lilith with an unamused expression on her face.
“Take him.” Lilith ordered and her henchmen immediately obliged.
“G-gyth..” I mumbled under my breath, utterly worried.
“Don’t fret. I’ll be fine.” Gyth assured me, giving my hands a last squeeze before the henchmen locked their arms around his.
“You’re now banned from interfering today's event.” Lilith said exchanging glares with Gyth as the henchmen marched him in front of her.
“Don’t even try to break loose or I’ll make sure this gets to the king.” Lilith threatened but Gyth wasn’t flustered.
Ignoring Lilith’s warning, he wrenched his arms from their grip. “I dare you.” Gyth said gnashing his teeth as he took long strides pass Lilith.
She squinted her eyes towards me before they walked out the door. The slamming sound was the signal for my body to collapse on the floor.
The coughing sound behind me snapped me out and I hurriedly crawled on my knees towards Elil. I held his back and he groaned in pain as I help him sit up.
“What do I do?” I anxiously mumbled to myself as I fidgeted my fingers.
I looked around the room and down to my hands that are covered in bandage. I immediately sprung up towards the water closet where Elil got them when a grip on my wrist suddenly stopped me on my tracks.
“You don’t have to do anything.” Elil said with his hand on my wrist.
“But..” I muttered looking over his state.
“Don’t bother yourself. Pure-blooded demons regenerate faster than any being.” He explained as he loosened his grip.
“Still, your wounds need to be tended.” I firmly said, rushing towards the water closet before he could even object.
I pulled the drawers of the cabinet and took what my arms could handle. I carefully drop the various containers on the bed and went back to help Elil stand up.
I settled him on the bed and looked over the unfamiliar containers of medicaments and ointments in confusion. There aren’t any labels on any of them.
I twisted open one unveiling a shamrock-colored salve and a strong minty scent that hurt my eyes. I grimaced closing my eyes, dropping the container on the bed.
I heard Elil sigh as I wipe my teary eyes. “I didn’t know you could be this stubborn.” He remarked as I squinted my eyes open.
He picked up an identical looking container that’s smaller in size and opened it, revealing a pleasant scent of peaches with a cantaloupe shade. I can’t help but beam as I took it from his hand.
I studied his face and dabbed a small amount on the tip of my finger. I slowly approached the tail of his brow, glancing over his eyes before applying it gently. Lastly, I turned to his rosy pink lips and applied a dab on its edge. I can’t help but notice his porcelain glass skin as I dab the salve repeatedly.
“All done.” I said, closing the lid of the salve.
“I will forever be beholden to you.” Elil said making me raise my brow.
“What’s that? It’s just a small thing.” I responded as I tidied the mess I made on the bed.
“A small thing I was never fortunate enough to experience.” He said with a smile on his face and silence quickly befalls the room as I stared at him with wary.
“Like I said, it did not needed be.” He said quickly shrugging it off as he lied down the bed with his arms crossed under his head.
I felt a heavy weight in my chest hearing his words as I put back the salves in the cabinets.
“Looks like our time’s up.” Elil said as I stepped back into the room.
All of a sudden, the thumping in my chest uncontrollably became louder and I was filled with apprehension the minute after as the creaking sound of the door echoed in my ears.
“Let’s go.” Elil said standing up and I reluctantly followed behind.
As we both stepped out of the room, all doors lined up in the hallway are opened and my eyes couldn’t believe what I witnessed.
