A/N: First off, I'm terribly sorry for being gone quite long without any notice. Things called depression and heartbreak poured violently in my life. Talk and be with your real friends when that happens which I hope not. Love lots 💞

His eyes held darkness as he asked me the question. It made me wonder what he’d been through as to why he’d think that it wouldn’t be to my liking to spend a day with him.
That’s when I realized that reapers must’ve held a painful life.
“Yes.” I answered, forming a smile on my lips making him dart his eyes towards me in shock.
Our eyes locked for a while before he turned away, hiding the smile on his face.
“You surprise me every time, doll.” He said brushing his golden locks backwards, revealing the delightful smile painted on his face.
I smiled back glad that I could take some, if not all of his darkness away even just for a short while.
He stood up all of a sudden and grabbed a piece of clothing. At last, he decided to cover himself as he buttoned up a black-colored long sleeved shirt.
“Let’s get to work shall we?” He said, taking long strides towards the desk. I watched him as he continued to pile up files after files.
After a short while, he came back with a handful of papers that he settled on the table right in front of me.
“Since I don’t want you to get hella bored while I work on my desk, you can entertain yourself with these.” He said with an innocent smile that I’m pretty sure hid the smirk beneath it so well.
“Just arrange them in order. You see this writing with the city name?” He asked, pointing towards the top left corner of the folder.
“Sort the folders by city.” He said and I nodded as he stood up, leaving me to work.
I let out a long sigh of disappointment as I stared at the endless papers piled up on the table.
I hurriedly picked up folders after folders, wanting to finish early when a paper inside one of the folders suddenly slipped out.
I bent down to pick it and my eyes wandered towards the writings. I gasped as I saw the number of deaths in a city spanning for a year.
I froze in place, my hand unable to pick the paper up when Dante suddenly appeared in front of me. He picked the paper up and slid it inside the folder and proceeded to pull me up.
“D-dante.” I mumbled. I was dumbfounded. I was utterly shock from seeing the numbers written next to the total deaths.
“I should’ve warned you before. I’m sorry.” He said as he pulled me softly into an embrace.
I let myself be engulfed as I leaned my head on his shoulder while he stroked the back of my head.
“Do you happen to like reading?” He asked to which I nodded as he sat us down on the couch.
“I have plenty of interesting books on the shelf. Pick something out while I finish my work.” He said as he filled his hands with the folders on the table.
“W-wait.” I said holding him by the arm. He turned towards me, flustered at my gesture.
“I’ll finish it.” I murmured. He stared at me with a worried expression as he settled the folders back on the table.
“Alright. Just be careful from now on.” He said and I responded with a relieved smile.
With that, Dante tirelessly worked until the middle of the day while I carefully sorted out the folders.
