The Bus Ride

I sit down in about the middle of the bus. I don't sit next to Hannah though, because people would see us being friends. Close friends. I lean back in the bus chair and wait until we get to school. The bus ride to school is about 25 minutes because I'm one of the first stops. One of the popugirls, Olivia, joins me at her stop. "Hey, Tara." She says as she sits down.

"Hi Olivia." I reply. Olivia is one of the better popugirls. I mean, she still doesn't like me to be friends with those of the 'lower class' but she's pretty nice to me and most people. The one thing that really gets on my nerve is that she is absolutely boy crazy. She doesn't really care about like wearing makeup and such, just as long as you can impress boys. She always talks about her current boyfriend (which changes between every week or month) like I care. Which, spoiler alert, I don't really enjoy. She always seems to have a boyfriend, which I think is weird. The only reason I have one right now is because I was forced into it.

So today, she is blabbing on and on and on and on and on about how cute her boyfriend is. Disgusting I say. She rambles on and on. I'm not really listening to her though. "Hey, Tara. I forgot who are you going to the dance with?" She asks. I decide maybe I should listen.

"Oh it's Jackson." I reply. Jackson is one of the sporty boys. He plays almost any sport you can think of and is obsessed. It's hard to have an intelligent conversation with him because all he talks about is sports or if your his girlfriend, like I am because I was forced into the relationship, about what your next date with him should be. So I can't really talk to him. Plus, he is extremely self centered and immature. Like, he makes weird comments on things and always says how much the ladies love him, in a not joking way. It gets on my nerves a lot. And he has broken up with every girlfriend he has had, but I don't expect him to break up with me anytime soon because he's had a crush on me since 4th grade. Luckily, I'm going to break up with him tonight. I sadly can't break up with him before the dance because my 'friends' would be mad at me for not trying to make it last just a little longer, and I don't like people being mad at me. I know it seems a little mean that I'm going to crush his spirit by breaking up with him tonight, but I really don't like him, so he's going to have to deal with it.

"Oh fun, I've dated him before. He's pretty cool." Olivia says.

"Yeah, so what are we doing before the dance again?" I ask.

"Oh, we're going to get dressed up and ready and meet at the Pizza Plaza before with our dates," She replies, "I'm so excited!"

"Yeah." I say. I may not like boys, schoo, dances, or talking about makeup, closes etc., but I do like myself some pizza from the Pizza Plaza.

"So, Tara, do you know about the sleepover on Saturday?" Olivia asks.

"Of course," I reply, "how could I forget?" Again I may not like makeup, boys, gossip, and such but again, Olivia's mom makes some amazing waffles. It is just now occurring to me that I'm making a good side to situations with food. I love food.

The bus eventually gets to school and everybody gets off the bus. I head to my classroom, and get ready for the day. I sit down in my seat, which is next to Olivia, and math class begins. But right before the teacher starts to speak, a new person comes in the door.
