Jacob sighs tiredly as he walks through the door of the apartment. Slipping his shoes off, he sets his laptop bag down on the couch and turns around. Stopping in his tracks, he smiles at the sight of his husband.
He chuckles softly as the blond sleeps, a bundle of pinkness his arms. Walking over to them, he smiles bigger as he sees their daughter wide awake.
"Hi, baby girl," Jacob says softly, carefully taking the five month old from his husband's grip. He sees a bottle that was clearly in Troye's hand at one point. It was almost empty. "Did daddy burp you before he fell asleep? Let's try burping you."
Moving the infant to his shoulder, he takes he towel off of Troye's shoulder and places it on his own. Patting the baby's back, he walks to the kitchen and places he bottle in the sink.
"Oh," Jacob chuckles. "I'm glad we tried. That was a big burp."
Moving the infant to his arms, he smiles down at her. From the moment she was born, he was happy to see that she looked like him. Squinty eyes, black hair, and, unfortunately, just like Bailey, she has his nose.
"I'm sorry for your nose. I wish you and your sister would have gotten your daddy's nose. He's got such a cute button nose."
Emerson babbles quietly making Jacob smile, "You ready to move, next week? Finally get out of this apartment and get you your own room? I know your sister's excited about you getting your own room."
"Got that right."
Jacob chuckles as his oldest daughter hugs his waist from behind, "Hi, Papa."
lHey, Beetle. How was your day?"
"It was okay."
"Just okay?"
"Yeah."
"Something happen?" Jacob asks as Bailey lets go of him.
"Um...yeah. But I kinda want dad to tell you about it."
Confused, Jacob turns away from the sink to face the ten year old, "What do you-"
His eyes widen, "Bailey, what the hell happened?"
Carefully, he cups Bailey's cheek with his empty hand and rubs the black and purple spot under her eye gently. She gasps softly at the sting.
"Sorry. What happened?"
"This girl punched me. We got into a fight over something stupid and she kept blaming me for it even though I wasn't even near her when it happened. I was actually just trying to help because nobody else was. Now I know why."
"What were you guys fighting about?"
"Somebody spilled their drink all over her and then fled the scene before the girl could do anything. Everybody was staring and I felt bad because I thought she was embarrassed, so I went to help and she started yelling at me. When I tried to explain to her that it wasn't me who spilled it, she grabbed my hair and knocked me over. I tried pushing her off but she was a lot stronger. I think she's a year ahead of me. She started punching me and didn't stop until some teachers pulled her off."
"You don't know who she is?"
"No," Bailey says, allowing Jacob to look at her black eye. "Luckily she had terrible shots, so most her punches landed on my chest and shoulders. My eye was just pure luck for her."
Jacob shakes his head, "I'm going down there tomorrow and talking to the-"
"Dad already did. They took us both to the office and called our parents."
"Oh. Anything happen to her?"
"She got suspended."
"Good. Nobody messes with my kids and gets away with it."
"I feel bad," Bailey sighs, her voice getting quieter.
"How come?"
"Because I know dad's been stressed out and tired from taking care of Emme, and having to go to the school because I was in a fight probably doesn't help."
Jacob sighs, "It's not your fault, baby."
"I know, I just...I don't know."
Jacob presses a kiss to Bailey's head, "Don't worry about it, honey. There's nothing to feel bad about. It wasn't your fault. Dad's not mad at you, I promise. But, enough about that. I'm starving. Are you hungry? I'll get dinner started."
Bailey smiles cutely, "Can we have pizza?"
"Domino's it is," Jacob states, making Bailey clap excitedly.
Jacob quickly orders pizza from in town before going into the living room and rubbing his husband's shoulder, "TroTro...why don't you go lie down in bed?"
Slowly, the blond's head lifts up, his eyes still shut. He hums tiredly making Jacob smile, "Go lie down, babe. I ordered dinner. Bailey wanted pizza. Is that okay? I can make you something if you don't want-"
"Shh..."Jacob smiles sheepishly, hating his habit of over-talking to someone when they first wake up. "Sorry," he whispers. "Go lie down in bed. I'll watch the girls."
Troye stands up and hugs his husband, his eyes remaining shut. Jacob hugs him back, Emerson still wide awake in his opposite arm. She gurgles making Troye look at her, "Hey. I was holding her."
"You were sleeping. You didn't even notice that I took her," Jacob chuckles.
Troye yawns, "Hm. I love you."
"I love you," the older boy repeats, kissing the blond's temple. "Do you want me to wake you when the pizza gets here?"
"Mhm."
"I will."
Troye pull away from the elder and leans down slightly to kiss Emerson's cheek, "I love you, Eme."(a/n: Eme, in case you're not sure, is pronounced like "Emmy")
Spotting Bailey by the kitchen entrance, he walks over to her and hugs her, "And I love you, Haybail."
"I love you, dad."
Pulling away slightly, Troye carefully examines the bruise under her eye, "Put some ice on that one more time before you go to bed tonight."
"Okay."
"Okay," Troye copies quietly. He smiles and kisses the girl's forehead before turning around and walking to the bedroom to sleep.
