"Girls, breakfast!"Jacob knocks on Bailey's door, "Wake up, wake up, breakfast!"
"Papa, stop! Just come in."
"Are you decent?"
"Yes."Jacob twists the doorknob and looks inside. He frowns, "Ella, what's wrong, honey?"
"Did dad tell you?" Bailey asks quietly as Jacob sits next to her.
"No? He didn't tell me anything."
Bailey sighs, rubbing Ella's back as she cries into her shoulder.
"Do you wanna talk about it, sweetheart?" Jacob asks softly.
Ella sniffles and pulls away from Bailey, "Not really. But can I have a hug?"
Jacob glances at Bailey then back to Ella, "From me?"
Ella nods.
"Yeah, of course, come here."
Ella falls into Jacob's arms and begins to sob instantly. He rubs her back and looks at Bailey worriedly.
She just looks down.
Troye walks in quietly, "Hey. Is everything okay?"
"Dad, get out for a minute."
Confused, Troye leaves the room.
"Papa, I have to tell you something. Actually, you and dad, but Ella's not really ready to do it."
"Okay. You wanna tell us right now, or?"
"Um..."
Ella turns her head toward Bailey and nods."Yeah," Bailey says quietly.
"Okay," Jacob nods. "Do you wanna go out there or stay in here?"
"Let's go out there."
~
Troye and Jacob sit down on the couch, Emerson in Troye's lap. Bailey and Ella sit in front of them on the coffee table.
"So...dad probably knows what this is about, but...I'm gay. And Ella is...my girlfriend."
Jacob's face lights up, "Really?! That's so awesome! Congrats, girls!"
Troye smiles, "Why were you afraid to tell us that, honey?"
"I-I don't know, honestly. I knew you'd be okay with it 'cause you guys are gay, obviously. But I think it was because Ella wasn't ready to come out."
"How long have you guys been together?"
"Well, we made it official a couple days ago, but we've kinda been...experimenting...for a while."
Troye covers Emerson's ear, pressing her other to his chest, "Okay. Well, that's great you guys! I'm so happy for you."
"That does not mean we want to find those kinds of pictures on your phone like we did with Robbie," Jacob warns sternly.
Bailey holds her hands up and shakes her head, "I promise."
"Okay. Well, we love you. No matter what," the older boy says hugging his daughter. He pulls Ella into the hug, "And you. Welcome to the family. Even though you were already part of the family."
The young couple laugh.
"Ella...do your parents know?" Troye asks softly.
Ella shakes her head, "Please don't tell them."
"We won't," Troye promises. "Not until you're ready to come out to them."
"Thank you."
"Can I have a girlfriend?" Emerson asks.
"No," Jacob says immediately.
"Jacob," Troye says, shocked.
"What? She's six. She can't be dating at that age. I barely wanted Bailey dating yet."
Troye shrugs. "Welp. Not yet," he chuckles, kissing Emerson's forehead.
~
"Papa, can Ella stay one more night?"
"Yeah, that's fine with me. As long as her parents are okay with it."
"Thank you," Bailey says softly, hugging the man.
Jacob hugs her back, confusion filling his head.
"Where's dad?"
"He's in the shower."
"Okay. I'll talk to him late then," Bailey says, walking toward the door.
"Bailey," Jacob stops her.
She stops and turns to look at him.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. She's just not ready to go back home," Bailey chuckles lightly.
Jacob nods uncertainly, "Okay. You know you can talk to us, right?"
"Yeah," the teen smiles.
Again, the man nods with a small smile, "Okay."
"Goodnight, Papa."
"Night, baby."
~
Jacob watches as the bathroom door opens after about ten minutes. Troye peeks his head out to see the bedroom door shut before walking out, drying his hair with a towel.
Jacob laughs.
"What?" Troye smiles.
"Nothing. You're cute."
"Because I walk around naked?"
"Yeah. Well, not just because of that. But, yeah."
Troye smiles wider and crawls on the bed and into Jacob's lap, straddling him.
"Ella's staying another night, just so you know."
"Okay."
"I think, um," Jacob starts before lowing his voice. "I think something is going on at Ella's house."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, earlier when we were talking about her coming out, she practically begged you not to tell her parents. And when Bailey came in to ask if she could stay the night again, I said yes and she hugged me like I just saved her life. I asked her if everything was okay and she kinda got...fidgety."
"Ella might just be scared to come out. You remember how your dad reacted when you came out. She might just be scared of how they'll react. And with Bailey, she might just still be getting used to someone knowing, y'know? It's only been a day."Jacob nods hesitantly, "Maybe."
Troye cups the elder's cheeks, "Don't worry. It'll be okay. Everything is fine. Okay?"
"Okay."
Troye leans in and kisses his husband's lips before pulling away and hugging his shoulders comfortably. The older boy hugs him back and rests his head on the brunette's chest.
Jacob rubs his hand up and down Troye's bare back with a sigh, "I love you, Troye."
"I love you, Jakie."
The elder presses a kiss to the boy's shoulder, "We should go start dinner."
