"Grayson, please come here, buddy."
The six year old boy walks over to his dad, iPad in hand.
"You want to eat?" Troye asks seeing his son raise his hand. "What would you like?"
He repeats the action to which Troye nods, "Yep, I know you wanna eat. What would you like to eat? Show me on your iPad."
Looking down at the screen, the little boy taps it.
Waffles
"I can make you some waffles. Are you sure that's what you want?"
Nodding, Grayson begins walking to the kitchen.
Troye follows after him and begins to make two waffles.
"What are we gonna do today, Gray?"
He taps on his iPad again. Car ride
"Good job. Not until later though, right? We're gonna go see Grandma, Aunt Sage, and Uncle Tyde, Uncle Steele. I know you haven't met him yet, but, don't be afraid, okay? Are you excited?"
Grayson nods, his hands shaking.
Troye smiles and looks at Jacob as he walks into the kitchen, "Good morning."
"Morning," Jacob replies, kissing his husband's cheek. He smiles at the little boy, "Good morning, buddy. How are you?"
"He's doing good," Troye says softly. "I think he's still waking up. He didn't sleep a whole bunch last night."
"Oh, yeah I heard him couple times."
"So hey," Troye says, placing the two hot waffles from the toaster on a plate. "My brother text me earlier."
"Tyde?"
"Steele."
"Really?"
Troye nods, "Yeah. Apparently being away from the family for almost 40 years was long enough. He wants to come home."
"Wow."
"Yep."
"Did you still want to go today?"
Troye sighs, "I think so. If anything, just to make my mom happy. I didn't really want my kids around him at first, but he seemed really excited when my mom told him about them and you and...yeah."
"Wow. I guess it'll be cool to have another brother in law," Jacob shrugs.
Troye nods slowly, watching Grayson eat, "I'm gonna go get Emerson up."
~
"This is our oldest Bailey and her wife Ella, our second oldest Emerson, and our youngest Grayson."
Steele smiles, "Hi, guys. I'm Steele."
"Steele is your uncle," Troye explains.
"It's nice to meet you," Bailey says politely.
"Same to you," Steele smiles. "I've been excited to meet everyone ever since mom told-"
Steele falls silent as a groaning sound is released from the little boy next to Troye. He continues to groan and grunt, beginning to pace slightly.
"Grayson, you're okay," Troye says, preparing to stand up. He grabs the boy's hand just in case.
"I didn't notice," Jacob says softly.
"It's okay, he just needs a min-Grayson," Troye gasps, as the little boy escapes his grip and sprints out of the room.
Chasing after him, he quickly but carefully grabs the boy's arms to keep him from running any further.
Bringing the boy into his arms, Troye slides down against the wall and onto the floor, the young brunette boy in his embrace.
"Shh...shh...we'll get through this, baby. Okay? We'll get through this. Together. It's okay."
Troye grabs Grayson's hands securely as he begins to hit himself. "Squeeze my hand if you need to, but don't hurt yourself."
Troye pets the boy's hair as he feels his hand being squeezed hard. He glances up at Josh who walks carefully into the hall.
"Jacob, get my phone, please," Troye says gently.
Instantly, Jacob turns around to retrieve his husband's phone. He brings it to him and sits down next to them.
Troye goes into his music and picks Grayson's favorite song.
Troye sings along quietly as the boy in his arms begins to calm down, his head resting on his dad's chest. The elder continues to pet his head gently, the song playing just loud enough for them all to hear.
Grayson lies still for a while longer, enjoying everything he is feeling. Troye doesn't move in fear something would trigger him again.
"You can go back, Jakie. We'll be out in a minute."
Jacob sighs sadly. He kisses Troye's head before doing the same to Grayson. He stands up and walks to the kitchen where Laurelle is finishing up dinner.
"How is he?" She asks.
"He's alright now. He's calming down."
"What's wrong with him? Spoiled?" Steele chuckles.
Jacob turns to look at Steele who's smiling. Josh doesn't smile.
"Excuse me?"
"That kid doesn't need songs and hugs, he needs a spanking."
"He's autistic, you piece of shit."
Steele doesn't say anything as Laurelle and everyone else glare at him.
"Get out," Laurelle demands.
"What?"
"Get out!"
Steele glares at her for a moment before leaving the house.
Troye walks in a few moments later carrying Grayson in his arms, "I love you guys."
