"Courtney?"
I hear my mom's voice coming from behind my closed door. I don't reply. "Courtney" she says again.
I lie in bed with my eyes closed. Half my body hangs off the bed.
"COURTNEY!" She screams.
I jump and hit the floor with a loud thud. "Ow." I moan.
I pull myself up and open the door. "Oh good you're up." She says with a smile.
"I wasn't until you screamed." I glare at her.
"I know I heard you when you fell on the floor. Anyway you need to hurry up, you're going to be late."
"For what?" I rub my eyes.
"Your interview?"
"Wait what?! That's today?!"
"Yes. Breakfast is downstairs hurry up." She disappears into the passage. I run to my dresser and pick out a collared shirt, a smart looking skirt and a pair of black pumps. I look in the mirror, my long brown hair is a complete mess and my bright blue eyes gaze at me. I brush and tie my hair in a neat, well sort of neat, bun on top of my head. After applying some make up, I eat breakfast, grab my keys and get into the car. 9:45, I have 15 minutes to get to my interview. I'm applying for a job at a marketing incorporation downtown. I finally arrive, 4 minutes to spare.
"Do you have an appointment?" The lady at the front desk asks. She has grey hair slicked back into a tight bun, a pair of spectacles hang on her nose connected by a golden chain.
"Yes, Courtney White."
"Wait over there." She points her long boney finger towards some chairs. I sit down, nervously tapping my foot and annoying the people around me. I'm always nervous before an interview. I need a job so I can save up for college. My name is finally called. After 45 minutes, I leave the same way I entered without a job. 'I'm sorry ms White, you have outstanding grades but unfortunately you are not well experienced enough for this job.' I angrily storm to my car. Climb inside and slam the door shut. I pull out my phone and type in Daniel's number. "Hello?" He says.
"Hey Dan it's me. I miss you,"
"Ugh what do you want?" He asks.
"I'm just being a good sister and catching up with my twin bro!"
"No you want something," he says
"Now spill."
"Dani I'm being nice to-"
"I'm going to hang up," He threatens.
"Fine! Fine! I was wondering if UCLA was still applying?" I ask, sounding desperate.
"No they're not, we're in the middle of the term Courtz," "Sorry."
"Darn. What a waste of airtime." And I hang up. I drive home, walk upstairs, kick off my shoes and drop onto my bed. This is my life.
