Baggage Claim

Chapter 6 Courtney's POV

I stand up from my white desk. I just finished my interview and I feel amazing. I'm so excited I hope I get the job. I lean over my chair and shut my lime green covered Apple laptop. The interview took 45 minutes.

I walk out into the passage and down the stairs into the kitchen. I walk into the pantry and grab a bag of chips. I jump on top of the marble counter. I lean to my left and turn on the radio. "And now Anything by Hedley" the radio presenter says.

Everybody said, you better stay in school,

A thousand disbelievers couldn't keep me on the ground,

"COUNTRY!" I spin around to see my mom standing in the kitchen doorway. Grocery bags lay against her legs. Her face frozen in shock. Omg I just swore in front of my mom! I'm in sooo much trouble and Dani isn't here to blame. "Hi...hiii mom." I say nervously...I'm dead! "Courtney Clarissa White! You know we do not allow swear words under this roof!" She says as anger flushes through her cheeks. "I was singing." I say under my breath. "I'm sorry mom, I didn't mean to swear, I got caught up in the music." She inhales deeply. "Alright but get off the counter now!" I jump down, perfect landing. My mom picks up the bags and starts to unpack them. I bend down to pick up the bags but freeze before my hand reaches the handle. My phone softly buzzes from upstairs. I dart up the stairs in seconds. I rush into the room, grab my phone and press the green button. "Hello? Courtney?" A familiar voice says on the other end. "Speaking." "Congrats honey you got the job!" I. Can't. Breath! "We are emailing your ticket right now." I say nothing, I can't move. "Hello?" I jump back to reality."Huh? Oh yeah thank you so much for this opportunity I would let you down!" "I'm such you won't." She laughs on the other end of the line. "See you in a few days sweety." And with that she hangs up. My phone falls out of my hang onto my bed. I scream. I have to pack! I rip out my suitcase from under my bed. Clothes fly all over the room. I scoop up every piece of clothing and pile them onto my bed. I'm usually not the messy twin, I neatly fold all my clothes and pack everything else I need. My laptop beeps, I open it and see I have a new email. My ticket. I check the flight departure, 18:30. I glance to the right corner of the screen, 16:17. I still have some time to kill. I climb onto my bed and switch on my flat screen tv.

1 hour later

I stand outside the airport with my blue suitcase at my side. "Bye honey, we will miss you." My mom says as she kisses me on the forehead.
"Bye mom, I'll miss you too, send dad my love." I hug her.
"I will, you better hurry or you might miss your flight." I give her one last hug before I turn around and enter the airport. After going through customs, I board the plane. I look at my ticket for my seat. Woah I'm seating in first class. The flight is approximately 13 hours and 25 minutes long. Well better get comfortable.

Longest flight of my life! I collect my luggage and leave the airport. My mom sent me Daniel's address. She wrote it down in case he left something else at home like the last time. 78 Highland Street. I call for a cab and head straight to his house. I leave my suitcase in the lobby and take the elevator to his floor. I walk down the hall until I find his door. Number 39. I knock. I hear voices on the other side, maybe I should come back later. I'm about to turn around when the door swings open. Daniel stands in front of me with his mouth wide open. Gosh I missed him! It's been over a year and the house isn't the same without him. Too quiet. We embrace in a tight hug. I feel tiny next to him. I always have the smallest between us. "Courtz what are you doing here?" He says.
"I.."
"Waittt what! Who's she!"
Daniel turns around to face a girl sitting at the table. My legs are still wrapped around his waist. She is beautiful, I wonder if she's Dani's girlfriend... Oh I know she's that girl he's obsessing about who's name I can't remember!
"Do you want me too come back another time Dani?" She says, there's a hint of disappointment in her voice but I'm not sure why.
"Oh um sorry Alley, no stay please! I need this lesson!" He quickly says. Lesson? What lesson? Oh yeah he was taking French to try impress girls.
"Oh Dani, who's this?" I say trying to sound polite but slightly disappointed, i was hoping I could catch up with my brother alone. Oh well be nice Courtney.
"Allow me" he says, doing this bow thing. The girl giggles, I roll my eyes at him but smile.
"Alley this is Courtz"
"So your the French tutor." I say interrupting Dani. He shoots me a slight glare, I forgot he hates when I interrupt him. I faintly smile at him. I take his hand and clear a space for us on the messy couch. At least I think it's a couch. "So how long have you guys known each other?" I ask trying to make some conversation.
"A couple months and you two?" Alley says.
"Oh we've known each other out whole lives" l say laughing, I guess he hasn't told her he has a twin. Alley and I look at Dani who sits next to me on the couch. He smiles and turns to me. "So what's the sudden rush to get here?" He asks.
"Well two reasons. 1. I missed you" he lets out a laugh, I smile at him and playfully punch him in the arm. "And 2. I got a job! I'm going to be working with Maria Cabello! Can you believe it?!"
"Wow Courtz that's great" Dani says and pulls me into a hug. Over his shoulder I see Alley sitting on the couch opposite us, her head is down and she fiddles with a piece of plastic from a chocolate wrapper. I wonder what's up with her.
