Summer was long gone and was buried in Jeno's memories now. He was the happiest person when Jaemin returned and now they were back at the University catastrophe, it had been months into this and they were getting used to it. Slowly.
“I'm not coming for a run with you next time,” Jaemin complained as they parked their bikes at the University. “I don't feel my legs anymore.”
Jeno shrugged. “Well, I had to drop my polite behavior one day and drag you out of your house before you start talking to your plants instead.”
“Sounds like a better plan than having to run with you 500 meters every day,” Jaemin retorted as they walked towards their class.
That's very precise of you. Jeno thought and raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah and then? Sit and study organic chemistry with them?” he asked him, sarcastically.
Jaemin sighed as they took their seats in their class.
Jeno still looked at him waiting for an answer. Just wanted to spend more time with you, Jaemin-ah, is that too much to ask for? He thought
“Fine, I'll get you some ice cream later,” he said, instead.
Jaemin looked back at him and chuckled. “Nah, just kidding. Besides, I like to spend time with you. Just don't make me run so much, exercises and lactic acid don't go well together.”
Jeno laughed. Jaemin did it again, making him feel better than ever. Make him laugh at things and sometimes at most absurd things. What was he going to do without him?
The class went as usual. Boring to sit through but interesting to understand.
At the break, Jeno and Jaemin walked towards Renjun and Haechan who were talking about their classes. When they joined, they stopped talking and their attention immediately drifted towards Jeno and Jaemin. Or Jeno especially.
“Alright, listen, pal,” Renjun began looking at Jeno, “There's this girl who has been asking about you for weeks, and Jesus Christ I don't know who told her we were best friends but she interrogates us every time she finds us.” Renjun suddenly paused and leaned in to whisper, “At this point, I thought you should know… and I thought you should be, you know, careful, if she meets you… I kinda find her shady.”
Jeno looked at him still confused. “Okay… I'm so confused,” he said, “But why are you whispering?”
“Because ears are everywhere,” Renjun said with a confident nod.
Jeno gave him a judgemental look. “Can be, you know who,” Renjun said looking concerned.
Jeno stared at him, “You mean… Voldemort?” he asked. Renjun didn't bulge so Jeno sighed. “Fine… but, who is us? And who is this girl?”
“Us is me and him,” Haechan said. “And the girl is,” he paused, looking around the canteen.
“I don't think she's here today,” Renjun said.
“Yeah, never mind that,” Haechan retorted. “So, she claims that she has known you since middle school.”
Jeno laughed nervously. “Man, I have no idea. Wouldn't you know?”
“Well, not really. We never had too many classes together back then too, Jeno-ya. Moreover, she said she knew you and not that you knew each other. Probably you never crossed paths.”
That's certainly a problem that Jeno didn't see coming.
------
“Coming to the store with me?” Jeno asked Jaemin after they were done with their classes.
