Year 850, Trost District
All I could feel was warmth enveloping my body. My eyes flickered beneath my eyelids, and I could tell my surroundings were dark. I forced my eyes open and my head spun at the sight.
Instead of the darkness I originally thought would be there, I saw the paved roads of Trost, the many rows of houses stretching down the length of the town. But something was different. It was all tiny, like I was viewing it from a bird's eye view. No... I was viewing it that way.
I looked at my hands. They weren't mine. Instead, they were large with dark red muscle fiber wrapping around the palm and white slender fingers. They were connected to slim forearms and toned biceps, all skinless, with the muscles exposed.
A bone-like material encased certain parts, such as the top of the shoulder, the bicep, and topside of the forearm. The rest of my body didn't differ, a mix of muscle and bone. Strands of soot-black hair hung in front of my face.
A titan?
I felt light. Moving my limbs felt smoother than ever, joints working like freshly oiled hinges. I could feel every tendon slide across its designated area, snapping into place properly with no delay.
Then I noticed the silence around me. Save for the groaning of titans ambling around Trost a distance away from me.
At my feet was the same titan that had been prepared to swallow me whole just moments before. It's body was completely obliterated. Head crushed into smithereens, limbs bent at awkward angles.
Did I do this?
I twisted my body around and the astonished faces of my friends met my gaze. Connie and Sasha looked more amazed than scared, whereas Marco and Jean expressed the latter.
The other five didn't react as openly, but their eyes betrayed their true feelings. Mikasa and Armin appeared not so much scared as they did disbelieving. Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie all shared the same expression; shocked and almost angry.
The other cadets who had been nearby had gathered on the rooftop as well, eyes wide and fearful.
I opened my mouth to say something, to tell them not to share this with the others, namely the superiors, as I didn't know how they'd react. Most likely try to kill me where I stood.
However, I felt air rush into my open jaw from the front and the sides, and the only sound that came out was a strange groaning sound.
What? Why can't I talk? What's happening?
The others also clearly had no clue either, as to what was happening. So, I raised my finger to lips in a shushing motion. Rather stupid now that I thought about it but it was all I could do in the moment.
My eyes must have shown some form of pleading as they just nodded their heads carefully.
Mikasa refocused first, turning and raising her sword up in the air. She began speaking to the rest of the group, and their attention switched from me to her. I took this as my cue to leave and started moving towards the headquarters.
Along the way, several smaller titans charged at me. They weren't hard to exterminate. A swift jab or speedy roundhouse kick to the head, knocking it clean off and ending its life. It was quite fun, being able to kill them so easily.
The repeated movements all blurred together, countless questions surfacing in my head.
Who's voice had I heard earlier? Is this the 'power' he had mentioned? Am I a titan?
