-A mess and extremely late, apologies.-

"Oi, Bertholdt!"

A pale hand connected to a slim forearm appeared in my vision, reaching for a slight young boy. Tall for his age, his black hair was kept short, bangs just brushing the middle of his forehead. A feeling of excitement washed over me at the sight of him, a fluttering sensation erupting in my stomach.

He turned towards me, pale green eyes widened only slightly in surprise. He donned a tan button-up shirt tucked into dark green shorts. A noticeable yellow armband with a gray star-like symbol encircled his left upper-arm.

"Oh, Lailah. You're here early." He spoke just above a whisper, not too quiet, but no louder than he needed to be.

"I could say the same for you! Are you waiting for Reiner?" My cheery voice countered his quiet one, view bouncing up and down as I rocked on my heels.

"Yeah..." Bertholdt scratched the back of his neck nervously. "He said yesterday he'd try to be early, but I've been here for about ten minutes and he's a no show."

"That's too bad," I frowned, but brightened up again immediately. "I brought sandwiches, my mom made some for all of us to share. We can start eating while we wait for the others to arrive."

"Really?" His eyes brightened at the mention of food. "Did she make the ones she usually makes? I think Mr. Zeke likes those a lot."

"Don't worry about it," I giggled lightly, pulling the strap of a bag over my head. The relief of the weight off of my shoulder was pleasant. "I told her about all of your guys' favorites and she made them all."

"You'll have to tell her thank you for me, she really went out of her way this time. I think I-"

"Hey, hey! Bertoto, Lailah!" A more mature-sounding male voice interrupted the Bertholdt's sentence as the speaker skipped over to where we were standing.

A tall teenaged boy with dirty blonde hair and soft blue eyes bent down to our heights and ruffled our hair with his hands. A warm smile was etched onto his face.

"Mr. Zeke! I was just telling Bertholdt about the sandwiches I brought. My mom made your favorites!" I shoved my hand in the bag and started pulling out the individually wrapped snacks.

On the wrapping was initials indicating who's was who's. For Bertholdt I handed him the one with BH, and to Zeke I gave him the one labeled ZJ.

"Well, that was very nice of her." Zeke accepted the sandwich graciously and began unwrapping it. "The others should get here soon, I spotted them behind me a ways back. Porco was arguing with Reiner over something..."

And as if on cue, unintelligible angry yelling was heard from just around a corner, followed by a calmer voice asking the former to tone it down.

"Porco, please! There are others around here!" I identified the voice as Marcel, Porco's older brother.

"Hah?! Then tell Reiner to stop being such a wimp." Porco huffed as he and the others rounded the corner and came into view. The blonde male stomped his way towards us, the other four trailing behind him in exasperation of his childish ranting.
