Chapter 16

I stood in front of my mirror with only my underwear. My bones are showing. My jawline became sharper and my eyes are swollen. I wore my pajamas and tucked myself in my bed. I don't even know what time is it or even if still day or night. I just spent my days and nights sleeping... still hoping to see her in my dreams. Every day and night I cry myself to sleep. This is the first time I became like this. When Tzuyu died.. I wasn't this devastated.

Let me see you in my dreams just this time..

"Were you waiting for me?" The woman asked behind my back. I smiled.

"Yes.." her eyes twinkled as she looked into my eyes. I offered her my hand and without any hesitation she held it.

I put her hands on my shoulder and mine on her waist. We swayed on the song we can only hear. We danced under the moonlight. Having her here with me feels like I'm finally home. She placed her head on my chest. It feels magical..

"It was already been you.."

I woke up with knock on my door. The woman in my dreams came back. I heard another knock and they entered my room. I sat on my bed resting my back on the headboard.

"We need to talk.." It was Jeongyeon with Seulgi and Moonbyul. I didn't answer.

"It's about the original owner of the property you bought in Batangas.." She said.. I looked at her with a cold eyes. She placed some papers on my bed.

"We already know what happened.. on 1956." She said.

"When you told me about the woman you said you've met.. I asked Jeongyeon to dig up some information." Yeah.. Jeong works with the PNP. She's a police officer.

"It's here.." She pointed at the papers. I grabbed it and scanned the documents. It's Ruby Jane's personal information.

"She was originally born in Korea.. during the Japanese occupation in Korea.. her parents.. asked Mr. Miguel Divinagracia to bring her in the Philippines. Her biological parents died during the occupation then Mr. Miguel Divinagracia and her wife Mrs. Gracia Lopéz-Divinagracia legally adopted her. Giving her the name Maria Ruby Jane Divinagracia." Jeong paused for a while. Letting me process everything.

"My intel was able to talk to one of the former worker of the family. He told us some of the most important information about the woman... Ruby Jane was supposed to marry the son of the former mayor of the province, Marco Montenegro but the wedding was canceled due to the woman's decision... this is the most interesting part." I tried to control my tears from falling down.

"Ruby Jane met a man.. named Limario. They fell in love with each other but their relationship remained a secret. According to one of my informants.. Limario's real name was Elisa Montemayor.. she's the only child of one of the wealthiest drug syndicate leader during the 50s. Her father was killed by their family's enemy and she was forced to hide and change her identity to live peacefully. One day Ruby Jane went missing. Her brother, Lucio and Marco planned to kidnapped the woman. Lucio was furious because his father gave all his properties to Ruby Jane so in order to get rid of the woman he told Marco to kidnapped the woman and bring her far away from casa de la luna. Fortunately their plan was jeopardized. Elisa and Miguel went after Marco and Ruby Jane.. her father was shot by Marco but the two managed to escape. Marco was out of his mind and still went after the two. Elisa was shot in the chest by Marco. The police arrived shortly and Marco got arrested and got a life sentence." My head hurts on what they were saying.

"How?... I witnessed all of it. I saw it happened. I was there.. I was Limario." I'm confused.

"That's why I came here with them.. there are only few studies about on how people came back to the past on their dreams. It varies depending on people. Some people claimed they witnessed something in their dreams or they were someone in their dreams. In your case.. you suffered in severe trauma when you drowned on that day. In those days that you were in coma you were just dreaming about that particular event that happened in 1956. In your dreams you were Limario or Elisa Montemayor. On why'd you dreamed about it is still unknown but there are some theories about that.. maybe because your dreams were trying to show you something or it wants you to do something." Seulgi said. It's making more sense now.

"Elisa Montemayor is still tagged as missing person because they never found her body. Ruby Jane spent years finding her body but she never found it. Shortly after that incident Lucio fell into depression and took his own life.. few years after her mother also died. During the 60s Ruby Jane gave half of the 6,000 hectares property to the workers of their family as was promised by her late father. Ruby Jane sold the remaining 2,99.8 hectares to Mr. Roberto Lim, Sr.. leaving the 2,000 square  meters on her name. after that she flew  back to Korea with her brother who shortly died due to his condition. Ruby Jane then met someone in Korea and had her family there. She still went to visit her remaining property here.. maybe still hoping to find Elisa's body. Until she died on January 16, 1996.. even before her only daughter's child was born." Jeong said. Tears finally came rushing from my eyes.

"Ruby Jane Divinagracia.. was Elisa Montemayor's lover." I don't know what to feel right now knowing the truth.. it was all in my dreams? It felt so real..

"This is the only rough sketch of Elisa that the police had.. and the painting you were holding the night I saw you walking in the rain looked exactly like... you.. Lisa." Byul said. I looked at the torn paper with a sketch on it. My hands were trembling.

"The dreams you had.. were memories of Elisa Montemayor.." Seulgi said.

I get up on my bed but before I could take my first step I fell down on my bed again.

"You're too weak, Lisa. You abused your body." Seulgi said as she held my arm.

"I.. need to go back.." I weakly said.

"We'll go with you when you recovered." Jeong said.

"Stop doing stupid decisions, Lisa. We are doing everything to help you." Seulgi said and I broke into tears again.

"I'm.. sorry." I felt arms wrapped around me.

"We'll do anything to make you okay.. we're your friends. We'll help you.. but you should also help yourself." I cried into their arms until I fell into deep sleep.
