The flight had been too long. Flying over the Atlantic was never fun for me. Flying over water in general wasn't really an attractive thing to me. But after some discussing and planning, it was obvious we should first go back to the compound and ready ourselves for the flight to Wakanda. Even with the long flight ahead of me I managed to weld Visions injury shut so it wouldn't 'bleed' all the way to Wakanda, or at least until we got a hold of Bruce.
Back home, our team as well as Rhody, Bruce, Wanda and Vis made a stop at Tonys weapon room slash laboratory slash office. The thought of Tony made me shiver, seeing his things made it even worst. God, please let him be safe. With all the craze of fighting aliens and the rescue mission, I was ashamed to admit, Tony hadn't crossed my mind once. I am still, but the safety of my team was far more important for the mission to succeed and Tony is a big boy. He knows what he's doing. When we had entered Rhodeys office we where greeted by a concerned Bruce and an annoyed Rhodey.
'Guys, Thanos has the Space Stone. Turns out Loki had it all along. Don't worry he gave the Stone away but negotiated for Asgards safety. He's injured, as is Thor, but they live. Apparently, Goldie lost an eye. Thor sent a rather long and detailed E-Mail.'
*A/N: TVA is on its way to arrest my ass for not killing Loki. Yikes.
Funnily enough, Bruce laughed after that last sentence and as he retreated himself to Tonys lab we heard him whisper 'a GOD sent me an E-Mail. What is my life?' And he wasn't wrong, since when did Thor know how to type and send an E-Mail?
We were about to plan our trip to Wakanda, to join Bucky there and to remove Visions Stone as we heard a call through the coms.
'Mr. Rhodes, Mr. Secretary is on the line. May I put his through?'
'Yes. Thank you F.R.I.D.A.Y .'
He rolled his eyes just as Thaddeus Ross' face appeared as a hologram before us.
'Mr. Secretary.'
Steves voice had this unnerving undertone, signalizing his disagreement with the man on the line. And as soon as the man spoke I knew I hated him as well.
'You've got some nerve, I'll give you that.'
Natasha let out a shaky breath and Mr. Ross' eyes started bulging out of their sockets.
'You could use some of that right now.'
'The world's on fire and you think all is forgiven?!'
Cap lost it at that point, as did the others. But never. was I more attracted to him than in this moment,
'I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender.' I started to feel my eyes become tingly with tears. 'So we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.'
Ross turns to Rhodes. His gaze stoic.
'Arrest them.'
'All over it.'
Rhodey shuts off the hologram as computers beep in the background.
'That's a court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap.'
'You too, Rhodey.'
We all begin chuckling, knowing all along Rhodey would have never arrested us. 'Hey.' He hugs Nat and me as he sighs again, making us all smile.
'Wow. You guys... really look like crap. Must have been a rough couple of days.'
'Yeah, well, the quinjet wasn't exactly five star.'

'So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?'
'And they can clearly find us because of Vis's Stone.', Wandas accent making itself apparent because of the stress she was put through.
'Well we need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?' Bruce looked around as if Barton was about to crawl out of a vent.
'After all the Accords situation he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families. They were on house arrest for a while but Clint made a new deal that allows him to be either here at the compound or at his family's farm.'
'Wait, Scott? Who's Scott?'
'Ant-Man. Duh.' Steve laughed when he saw Bruces confused face.
'Theres an Ant-Man AND a Spider-Man? Okay, look you guys: Thanos has the biggest army in the universe... and he is not gonna stop until he gets... Vision's Stone.'
I looked at Bruce. I was getting angry and pissed at this Thanos dude and as I let out an angry sigh I said:
'Then we have to protect it.'
'No, we have to destroy it. I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature. But also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source...something very similar to its own signature, perhaps, its molecular integrity could fail.
He moves to Wanda, she was already shaking her head no.
'Yeah, and you with it. We are not having this conversation, Vis.'
'Wanda, eliminating the stone it the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it.'
'That's too high a price'
Vision shakes his head, cradling her face in his hands.
'Only you have the power to pay it.'
She steps away from the group, hurt and anger in her eyes.
'Thanos threatens half the universe. One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him.'
Steve and I began shaking our heads simultaneously, I had stepped to him, missing his warmth and the security he provided. As I looked Vision in the eyes I told him what we were all thinking.'But it should. We don't trade lives, Vision.'
