TW: Abuse and Some Self Harm through out the whole story
Peyton woke up to her brother and father yelling from downstairs, she couldn't stand the yelling anymore so she got dressed and climbed out her window to go to her friend Connie's house. When she arrives at Connie's she doesn't even bother to knock she just walked right in because she knows that both of Connie's parents are at work. "Hey Connie, whatcha doin?" the 11 year old asks. "Not much just watching Karate Kid, wanna watch?" "Of course I do, who would wanna miss almost 2 hours of Ralph Macchio!" She says excitedly, causing Connie to laugh.

"Ok well I better get going, don't wanna freak out Charlie" "Ok I'll see you at the game tomorrow" The girls say their goodbyes and Peyton gets on her way.
Peyton arrives home to a quiet house "finally a quiet house" she walks upstairs to her bedroom to see her dad sitting on her bed waiting, she gets scared and screams, "God, why are you in here, you scared the crap outta me?" "WHERE WERE YOU?!" Her dad yells at her, "Look dad I'm sorry I was at Connie's, we were watching a movie and I lost track of time." The girl tries to explain. "YOU LOST TRACK OF TIME?! IT'S 7:00 IN THE AFTERNOON" her dad says even more furious. "I'm sorry ok!, just please get out" She says raising her voice a little bit. "Did you just raise your voice at me!" "N- no dad, I'm sorry" Her dad slaps her on the face leaving a red hand mark. Her dad leaves. Peyton starts to cry. Her brother had no clue about their father hitting her, all he knew was that he was a horrible father and he wanted him gone for his sake and her sake.
*********
The next day at the game, the first thing Peyton does is go up to Connie, Connie knew everything about Peyton, she always knew when something was wrong, so when she saw that Peyton's cheek was red she became worried. "Omg Peyton what happened to your face" She says in a whisper voice because no one else knows about the abuse. "My dad h- he hit me again" "Omg does Charlie know?" "No, I haven't told him yet" "You need to tell him babes" she says with a worried expression on her face "I'll tell him later today" "Has he even noticed the mark?" "I don't think so, I think he thinks it's the cold" A few minutes later Coach comes in and tells everyone that they needed to start warm-ups.
*********
Before warm-ups coach goes over to the Hawks coach with another guy, "Excuse me Coach Reilly" The other man says. "Yeah?" Reilly replies back. "I'm afraid there is a bit of a problem" "What's that?" "One of your players is ineligible" the man replies "Banks! Over here!, This is a joke right?!" "I'm afraid it's no joke" The man shoots back. "Is there a problem?" Mr. Banks asks. "No, just a mistake, Mr. Banks" Reilly immediately responds. "Are you this boys father? 450 North Hennipen Avenue, is that your address?" "Yes" Mr. Banks replies. "Then I'm afraid there is no mistake, this boy is playing for the wrong team." "What?!" Adam says shocked. "According to league rules, Adam Banks should be playing for District Five." "My son is a Hawk, not a Duck" Mr. Banks claps back. "Is this your doing Gordon?!" Coach Reilly asks. "I'll expect to see him at our next game. We'll have a uniform waiting for you." Coach Bombay says. "No way!" Adam says. "My son would rather not play than play for your team." Adam looks down sadly. "Fine, if that's the way you want it, But remember, if Adam plays for the Hawks, you'll have to forfeit every game for the rest of the season. Boy I'd hate to see that." Gordon walks back to the Ducks.
After the game Gordon walks in the hallway and Coach Reilly follows after him. "Gordon? Hey, Bombay! You stop when I'm talking to you, son! What's the idea here? You trying to sabotage me or what?" "The laws a bitch when it works against you, isn't it, Jack? You got a whole team full of Banks's. One kid isn't gonna make a difference." Bombay shoots back. "Even with Banks, what do you think you are gonna prove, you and that bunch of losers?" Reilly fires back not knowing that Jesse and Peter were standing right around the corner listening to their conversation. "That's right coach, they are losers. We hate losers, don't we? They don't even deserve to live." At this point Jesse and Peter had heard all they needed to, but what they didn't realize was that Gordon was being sarcastic. "Maybe your right, Maybe Banks won't make a difference, but at least we are playing by the rules." Bombay finishes, "Why'd you turn against me, Gordon? For six years... I taught you how to skate, I taught you how to score. I taught you how to go for the "W". You could have been one of the greats! And now look at yourself. Your not even a has-been. Your a never-was." And with that Reilly walks away leaving Gordon there in shock.
