A/N I would just like to warn you that this is really shitty. It's not angst or anything, i mean a little bit, but it's mostly just really really bad.
It was almost 3 am. Your son was already asleep and it was too late for anyone who wasn't looking for trouble to be knocking on your door. You put your hand on the gun clipped to your belt and slowly approached the dark entry way. The door swung open and you flipped out your gun.
"Y/n?" A voice called to you through the darkness. A voice you knew well, but hadn't heard in years. You put the gun back in your belt.
"Right here." The redheaded woman limped over to you.
"Hey....I uh...didn't have anywhere else to go." You gave her a soft smile and pulled her to you, wrapping her in a tight hug. She leaned into you and you took her weight willingly and you drank in her scent, blood and dirt battled with her ever familiar scent of whiskey and nighttime.
"I missed you, Tasha." She smiled against you.
"I missed you too, y/n." You pulled away and took her face in your hands, looking it over. Blood trained from her nose, it looked like it had been broken then snapped back into place. A bruise was forming on her forehead and little cuts and burns, presumably from an explosion, blended with spots of dirt on her chest and neck.
"Alright, come on. Let's get you cleaned up," you said, more to yourself then to her. You checked out her torso first. Nothing major, a little bruising on the ribs but nothing to worry about. You were careful to stay professional. You grabbed an oversized t shirt when you were finished.
"Here, put this on, then i'm gonna need to take a look at your legs." Nat slipped it on, cracking some joke about you not being able to concentrate when her shirt was off, (she was right).
One her suit was completely off and she had changed into a pair of sweats, you went to work on her face. You bent in front of her with a damp paper towel, wiping the blood off the underside of her nose.
You jumped as her warm hands moved to your back. You ignored it though, continuing to wipe the blood off her face. Her hands were light at first, just there to offer support and comfort, tracing up and down your hips lightly. Then, out of nowhere, they tensed and she pulled you onto her lap. You heart flipped but you ignored that too, focusing on your job. You could feel her watching you work. You wished you could turn and watch her back, but that would send the wrong message. You tried not to breath as you finished her face.
"There," you said, satisfied, "you're all done." She looked up at you,
"So, I'm alright then?"
"Yup, your looking good." Natasha gave you a playful smirk,
"Ah shucks, Doc." You rolled your eyes, then suddenly they locked with hers. Your breathing got shallower and your heart rate sped up. You leaned into closer to her soft lips, desperate to taste her-
You heard the kitchen door handle turn and you pulled away, swinging off her lap just in time for your son to come in the room. He yawned and rubbed his eyes,
"Mommy?" You turned with a smile, your heart still racing,
"What is it, buddy?" He looked up at you with his big green eyes,
"Can I have water?"
"Yeah sure. What sippy would you like?" He gave you a bog gap toothed smile that quickly morphed into a yawn,
"Cap- *yawn* Cap'n 'Merica." You filled the cup and handed it to him.
"Be careful please and when you're done, try and use the potty please." He nodded, yawning again.
