Natasha sat up quickly gasping for air. You sat up next to her, reaching to touch her arm. She flinched away. You weren't surprised. This happened almost every night. Nat had a nightmare and flinched away from any touch, it wasn't personal. There was something that had worried you though, she had woken up with your name on her lips and she had sounded scared. You pushed your thoughts to the back of your mind and reached for her again, this time making contact.
"Tasha," she turned to look at you, your face still creased with worry. You quickly smoothed it into a warm smile, hoping to calm her down.
"It's alright, love. It was only a nightmare." This seemed to be the right thing to say because she slumped back into the bed. You joined her, watching her face for a moment. You weren't sure whether she wanted your comfort or not. Turns out she did because after a few seconds, she grabbed your arms and wrapped them around her, tucking her body into yours.
You woke up with the sun, but Natasha was still sleeping. You stared at the ceiling, trying to focus on counting the tiles instead of on her nightmare. It seemed nothing could stop you from imagining what she thought, or at the very least what she would think eventually. You were a monster. End of story. Destruction followed you everywhere you went. It ripped through your life like a knife, the only common factor; you and you were terrified. Terrified that one day Nat would open her eyes and see you for who you really were and leave. You weren't worthy of her.
You rolled over, to see your sleeping face. You stared. Tried to memorize every curve of her face, the little lines around her mouth from smiling, the fingernail shaped scar on the bridge of her nose that she usually covered with makeup. You closed your eyes, then opened them again, comparing your image of her face with reality.
Natasha's eyes fluttered open. "Were you watching me sleep?" You smiled,
"That depends. Do you find it cute or creepy?" Natasha laughed out loud, her eyelashes batting as she rolled her eyes. You smiled and brushed a stray strand of red hair out of her face. The sun was at the perfect angle, making her hair shine like gold in the sunlight. Natasha caught you off guard, pressing a kiss to your lips.
"C'mon, we've got a lot of driving to do today." She yawned, climbing out of bed and dragging the blankets with her so you would have to get up too. She knew you too well.
As you gathered your stuff for a shower, Natasha came back into the bedroom.
"I'm going to take a shower, Tash. Care to join me?" You asked with a smirk. She smirked right back, "Only because I know you like it when I come in the shower." Her lewd joke made you giggle, "Please, I'm not the only one who likes it." She smiled and shook her head at you. Natasha winked and started towards the bathroom. Moving faster than you ever have before, you followed her.
The shower, well the shower sex, took your mind off Natasha's nightmare for a while. The thought of Natasha, the water glistening on her bare skin, was enough to make you drool, actually, it was enough to make anyone drool. She was perfect. You didn't deserve her. Natasha's voice drew you back to reality, "Could pie right two pay?"
"What?" Nat laughed,
"Could I drive today?" With a have smile, you replied,
"If you want to, but I can finish the trip." Nat shook her head, this was her recon mission, you were just tagging along and you knew that.
"I can do it," Nat responded and you nodded.
You both climbed into the totally-not-stolen Ford Fusion you had jumped. Nat wanted to wire it, but it was easier for you to just start it with your powers. The glowing black strands of magic entered the keyhole and seconds later, the engine roared to life. Natasha smiled at you, but deep down, you were sure she was repulsed. Your magic was unnatural, evil, a failed experiment. If she wasn't already afraid, she would be soon.
