FALLING IN LOVE WITH A PMA CADET (Completed)

GRADUATION DAY

JUSTINE

So dahil bawal na may anak or nakabuntis ang kadete , I told Marcus na hindi na lang ako pupunta. We agreed on that kasi baka nga matanggal siya sa PMA, or bawiin ang  diploma niya. And give him that time to be with his family kasi alam ko that even is very important to him. And I know that he will come see me naman after. He told me na he will just bring his stuff to their house tsaka siya pupunta sa amin to pick me up for the party later that afternoon. 

I watched the event on tv. I saw him welcomed the president. Ano tawag dun, Arrival honors. He walked with the president beside him. He led the president in trooping the line. Basta pag sumisigaw siya ng commancd zoomed in siya sa TV. Guapo eh kaya ipinapakita nila siya.

He graduated #1 sa klase niya. Siya yung Baron siya pa ang #1 and James yung Ex-O niya ang #2 and Teroy #3. Okay ah. Yung mga yun nasa top ng class. Cool lang sila. Hindi nga sila mukhang matalino pag kasama namin sila. Puro games at tulog lang ang ginagawa nila. If I talk to them about business and about other stuff na pang intelligent talking, wala lang. Nakikinig lang sila sa akin or minsan obviously na inaantok sila sa mga pinagsasabi ko. Hindi rin sila mayayabang. Marcus did not tell me na alam nila about me.

There will be a party later sa vacation house nina Marcus and he told me na close friends and relatives lang nandun. Kasi ang party daw would be in Manila. Sa Saturday next week. Naplano na daw ng Mommy niya. So sabi ko okay.

MARCUS

I would have wanted for her to come and attend my graduation. Kaso siyempre sabi niya baka daw matanggal ako sa Academy. At iba't iba pang theories niya na out of this world. Siguro nahihiya siya kaya ganun. Pinagbigyan ko na lang siya sa gusto niya. My parents were here and surprises of all surprises, lahat ng mga babaeng idinate ko habang kadete ako, from here and from different parts of the country nandito. Tangina, lumapit pa talaga sila sa akin after ng graduation. Nagpa picture sila. My Mom was mortified. Yung dalwa dun hinalikan pa ako sa lips. Shit! Nasa tv yun. Sana hindi nakita ni Justine. Itinulak ko ng very slight yung mga yun. Sino ba mga yun> Di ko tuloy maalala sa dami nila. Buti na lang at tinawag kaming tatlo ng tv crew para interviewhin kami. Ano na daw ang plano after graduation. 

Sumagot ako.

"My girlfriend said yes when I proposed to her the other night."

"Wow! Congratulations, Cadet Franco ooopppss sorry. Lieutenant Franco."

""Thank you Ma'am."

"So when is the wedding?"

""We still need to talk about it."

"Oh okay. I heard Lt Sotero that you are also getting married?"

"Sad to say ma'am that my girlfriend, este faincee bailed out on me. She does not want to be married to a soldier. Takot daw siya."

"Oh, I'm so sorry."

"That's okay ma'am. "

"MAybe I should introduce you to my younger sister. She's a law student and she's 21. How old are you. Lt. Sotero?"

"twenty four, Ma'am. Perhaps, you can give me her number after the interview, future sis-in-law?"

Gago talaga tong Teroy na to. Ngayon ko lang alam na ayaw na sa kanya ni Dinid> Hiwalaya na sila? Kailan?

"Lt. ..."

"JAmes na lang, Ma'am."

"James, are you also single or what?"

"Ma'am, I am at the moment, in love but still un attached. The girl of my dream is still not sure if she wants me or takot lang sa kuya niya."

"Oh ganun? Sino ba ang kuya niya at nang mapagsabihan na?"

Inginuso ako ni James. Isa din to eh.

"Aaaahhh si Lt Franco pala. Naku patay ka din sa Daddy nila, Senate President yun."

"Oo nga po, ma'am."

Ang ending ng interview puro kalokohan na lang. After the interview, we rushed to our barracks to change. Uwi na ako. Nandito na ang sasakyan ko dinala ng driver namin. Ilahat ng mga gamit ko na hindi nahingi ng mga underclass, inilagay ko na sa likod ng truck ko. Sumama sa akin sina Teroy and James. Sabi nila sama na lang daw sila sa akin pababa ng Manila. Yung mga pamilya nila namasyal pa ng Baguio at uuwi na din sila ng hapon na din yun. Inihatid ko muna sila sa mga hotel na tinirhan ng mga pamilya nila. Ounta na lang daw sila sa bahay namin mamaya. Kilala naman na sila sa bahay and they are both welcome to stay at the house. Ang laki naman ng room ko. Sabi ko sa room ko na lang muna sila matulog kasi punta muna ako kay Justine.

Hindi na ako dumirecho sa bahay namin kasi I know that everyone is there na. Even her parents are there. It's going to be a surprise actually. 

After I talked to her dad, I asked them if they could come up cause I will formally propose to her.

They agreed.

My plan was to ask her to marry me. Pipilitin ko actually siya na magpakasala sa akin. Everything about responsibility lang. Ayaw ko naman na ipanganak ang mga anak ko na hindi ko mabigyan ng pangalan. That was the only plan I wanted. Sabi ko sa sarili ko bahala na kung hindi ko siya mahal.

Then when I heard her voice this morning, para akong sinuntok sa sikmura. Hindi ko maexplain. I wanted to see her kaninang umaga pa. I talked to her over the phone, sorry at hindi smart hone ang phone ko. Cadets are not allowed to have phones and no social media for us if we're in the Academy. The Baron gets the priviledge of possessing a phone pero hindi rin pwede ang smart phone. Raised keypads ang meron ako. So hindi ko rin siya naka video call. 

When I arrived sa bahay nila, pinauwi ko muna si Manong Daniel. Tawagan ko na lang pag magpapasundo ako.

Justine was sleeping when I got  to their house. Pinakain pa ako ng yaya niya ng lunch. And she told me na pasok na lang ako sa room ni Justine. Sabi niya to bring cracker and warm milk para sa kanya kasi  magugutom daw siya pag nagising. When I got in the room, tulog nga siya. I went near her and kissed her sa cheek niya. She hates my smell at ayaw na ayaw niya ang may nahihiga sa bed niya unless sabihan ako na pwede. So isat at the sofa at nanood ng tv. Walang sound at baka magising siya. Nagbago ka na Marcus. Dati kung anong gusto mo yun lang ang ginagawa mo. Ngayon considerate ka na. In love ka nga pare koy.

I looked over to where she is sleeping and I am shaking my head ano nangyuari at parang in love na inlove ka na pare. Bakit ngayon ko lang naramdaman to? Oh man, sana magisging ka na. I want to hug her and hug her for the rest of my life. Kaso tulog siya and ayaw kong istorbohin. She looks so peaceful sleeping on her side, Her big tummy is hidden under the blanket.
