Zian: Who needs Women?

Rian nervously walked into the community building and took a seat towards the back. He cradled his sleeping son to his chest and watched as the other single dads mingled with each other.

Rian wasn't worried about making friends. He was here to make sure he raised his son right. The meeting started with the normal introduction speech and formalities.

A little while afterwards, the door swung open to reveal a muscular man carrying a light blue car seat. He sat a chair away from Rian, hoping not to disturb the man.

The men were attending a SFSG (Single Father Support Group) meeting. All the men in the room were raising their kids without any help. They came here for tips, classes, advice and free daycare. To them, it was a gift from God.

Jack, the son of Rian soon began wailing. His cry was unfamiliar, so Rian tried feeding him. The baby would suck on the bottle, but would spit the milk out right afterwards.

Rian sighed in frustration and tried bouncing the baby but he still wailed. His attention was soon diverted though, because the guy next to him tapped his shoulder.

Brown eyes met hazel ones and the guy almost wanted to get lost in them.

"I think he just wants to busy himself. I have an extra pacifier..."

Rian didn't normally accept things from strangers, especially for his child but people were getting annoyed.

"Uh thanks."

Jack happily sucked on the binky and watched his father smile down at him.

"Your son is quite the looker."

Rian smiled at the man and decided he was worth talking to.

"Thanks a lot man. Names Rian and this is Jack."

Zack offered a shy smile and lifted the blanket off the car seat.

"I'm Zack and this is Alex."

"Damn that kid has some eyebrows!"

"He gets them from his mom."

Both the men laughed, causing Alex to let out a yawn and make grabby hands towards his dad.

Soon both of the young boys were staring at each other curiously, making incoherent noises.

"So, why are you here?" Zack asked, hoping to learn more about Rian.

"Uh, my girlfriend died during childbirth. Just been me and Jack for a year. You?"

"Alex was the product of a one night stand, His mom wanted to abort him so I stepped up. Sorry, about your girlfriend."

The men kept talking, not caring about the class anymore. Even the babies were too preoccupied with each other than their rumbling tummies.

Soon the class was over and the guys had to go their separate ways.

"Here's my number, I hope we can meet up sometime." Zack said, handing Rian a slip of paper. Rian flashed his pearly whites and kissed the hazel eyed man's cheek before walking off to take Jack home.

The babies still cooing in delight from making a new life long friend.
