A married couple?! A Mitch Rapp story Part Five

They soon arrived back at her place. Mitch looked around the area. He got out his phone and took down numbers sending them to Irene to get them checked out.
Marie got out of the car and looked around. It felt weird being back to the area. Mitch got out as well opening the boot taking out there bags. Marie took out her eyes from her bag and made her way to her home. Unlocking the door she went inside Mitch followed her, closing and locking the door behind him.
"Oh put them on the side". Marie said pointing to the side where Mitch put the bags. She took her bag and coat off and looked around her home.
Mitch came up behind her. Making her jump slightly.
"Sorry". Mitch said.
"No, no it's fine. I guess have to be used to being back here for a while". Marie said turning around to look at him.
"Drink, I think I have things in if not have to go out shopping". Marie said. She walked into the kitchen. Luckily she had some cold drinks left. She handed Mitch one and walked to the sofa to sit down on.
Mitch sat next to her. Turning on the tv. They sat there quietly.

Back with Irene she had received Mitch's messages and went and found the person.
"Mitch sent me a message. Wanting to know if there place was wired?" Irene said.
"Why would it be?" He said.
"Because Marie over heard someone saying something about how their married but don't you know". Irene said. Looking at him, he raised his eyebrows. Soon clicking on to what she meant.
"Oh, and she thinks there place was a wire in so they can be heard?" He said.
"Yes. Mitch wants us to go throw the whole place and see if there is anything. But he said to tidy up afterwards". Irene said.
The man nodded. Both of them soon left the office and headed to Marie and Mitch's place.
"Let's hope it's not wired!" Irene said.
"Yes I know". He said.
"You didn't put any cameras in did you!" Irene said looking at him.
"No I didn't. So if we find anything. It's nothing to do with me". He said.
"Ok, if we do. We need to be careful as we don't know who put the wire in!" Irene said. As they reached the place, unlocking the door and going in. They took a room each. Going throw everything.
They checked for bugs and cameras. Looking under everything. Putting it back how they found it.

Back with Marie and Mitch they was still watching a tv show. Marie found is funny. She kept glancing at Mitch, who looked at her and smiled.
"Feels weird being her, I kind of expect someone to knock on the door or one of your team mates to knock". Marie said.
"I know. It's peaceful though". Mitch said.
"Yeah it is. Do you think people know this place ?" Marie said.
"No, but at first I needed to get you out of here to be on the safe side. But we are sure they don't. Plus I sent the cars reg numbers to Irene to check out. And since I haven't heard anything it's safe to say this place they haven't found out about, but that still doesn't mean your safe ok.  Until they are caught I'm with you". Mitch said.
"I know. But you do know it could be months or even years before they are. I'm assuming these people are very good at keeping their self off the radar, am I right?" Marie said.
Mitch looked at her. And nodded.
"Looks like we better get used to being married then, but look I don't expect things when we're aren't with people. That wouldn't be fair on you, as this is your job". Marie said.
She didn't want Mitch to miss out on life. By pretending to me married to her in order to keep her safe. But Mitch wasn't missing out, he agreed to do this and he wasn't about to do anything that could put her in danger.
"Look Marie, I did agree to this as well ok. So I'm not leaving your side ok. Plus I like your company. I like being around you. Yes it's a weird situation. But again all this isn't your fault. Protecting you is what I agreed too ok". Mitch said.
"I know, I know.  I just hope now you have put a few people in their place we can get throw this without it being shown. You know". Marie said.
"Yes I know. Plus no one knows your related to someone. And for the time being it will stay that way". Mitch said.
Marie couldn't help but smile at him. His smile made her heart beat rise. A feeling she had been feeling for a while now. When he hugged her or kissed her. Her heart beat went faster. She had no idea if Mitch was feeling anything like she was. But right now she didn't have the nerve to ask him.

Back at their shared home. Irene and the person had finished going throw the place. They had found two wires hidden in places in the living room and the bedroom. They looked at each other. And wondered who could have put them in. Remembering there was a camera on the opposite side to the place. They decided to check the footage. Leaving the place looking up behind them. They headed back to Irene office. Not saying a word to each other until they was inside.
"Mitch is going to be pissed when he finds out someone put two bugs in their place. We have no idea what they know or don't know". Irene said.
The man was stood there he was pissed as well. Irene brought up the video to the camera. And looked throw it. Going back from the time they moved in until that day.
Slowing going throw it bit by bit making sure she didn't miss anything.
"Are you going to tell him or shall I?" He said.
"Think best if I do it, let's find out who could have put them in and get them in here. This is serious, they could know who she is anything". Irene said.
"Yes I know. Why would they put these in their place". He said.
"Well when we find out who, we can ask them". Irene said.  The man nodded and sat there. He was pissed that someone would do this. But even more so because it means her life could be in even more danger than it already was.

Irene was still going throw the camera footage. She notice on a day just after it was said that Mitch had got married. She saw someone enter the place. She looked carefully at the person and showed the other person.
"Where is that person now?" He said.
"He should training. I will get someone to bring him here". Irene said. As she picked up the phone.
Once she had finished speaking she put down the phone and looked again at the footage double checking to make sure their wasn't anyone else who went into the place.
"Mitch also sent some reg numbers from where they are, they all check out, ok". Irene said.
As she quickly sent Mitch a text back.

Marie and Mitch was sat watching a film now. When his phone went off. He looked at it. Marie looked at him.
"Everything ok?" Marie asked.
"Yes, Irene ran the car regs number from outside. They all check out". Mitch said. Marie raised her eyebrows at him.
"Can't be too careful, you know that. And also did I notice your neighbour watching us?" Mitch said.
"Probably. Don't worry about it. She won't say anything". Marie said.
"Are you sure?" Mitch said.
"Yes. Did Irene say anything about whether or not they found anything in our place?" Marie said.
"No, not yet. I will ask her". Mitch said. Once again sending a message to Irene and putting his phone down.
Marie looked at him and smiled. She moved a bit and laid down. Laying her head on his lap. He was a bit taken with this. As there was no one watching them. But allowed her to do this. She laid there watching tv with her head, where it was.
She closed her eyes. Struggling to stay awake she soon fall a sleep.
