A married couple? A Mitch Rapp story. Part Six

Mitch sat there gently playing with Marie's hair. He notice she hadn't spoken for a while. He looked down to see she was fast a sleep. He looked at the time and notice how late it was getting.
He slowly moved her, so he could stand up. Gently picking her up he carried her into the bedroom and gently laid her down into her bed. Putting the covers over her. She moved a bit didn't wake up. He stood up and watched her for a few minutes. Before leaving the room, pulling the door up behind him.  Going back into the living room he sat back down in the sofa.
He took out his phone and went throw things. He still hasn't heard any thing from Irene, so decided to send her another text.

Mitch:
Did you find anything? Could u let me know.

Sending it he thought about sleeping in the sofa. But again if someone was to look in the window and saw him there. So he decided to risk it and went back into the bedroom. She was still fast a sleep. Taking off his top, trousers and trainers. He slowly climbed into bed next to her.
Marie moved closer to him, but she was still fast a sleep. He laid down even more in bed. When Marie moved and cuddled into him. Laying her head on his chest with her arm over his stomach. She had only done this once a few weeks ago.
Mitch felt his heart race. Yes being close to her was part of his job. But this had happened again his heart would race when she looked at him and even now while she laid a sleep.
He gently put his arm around her and closed his eyes. He couldn't stay awake any longer and soon fall a sleep. With Marie sleeping in his arms.

Irene sat in a room and looked at Luke. He sat there looking at her.
"Care to explain what you was doing in Mitch and Marie's place a few weeks ago?" Irene said.
"No idea what your talking about". He said.
Irene turned her laptop and showed him the video footage. He looked at it and then at Irene.
"Oh Mitch asked me to sort something inside there place so I did". He said.
"That's a lie, look we found these". The man said. Placing the microphones down on the table in front of him.
"Doesn't mean I put them into there place". Luke said.
"Then how did they get their as no one else entered the place expect Mitch and Marie, why did you feel the need to bug their place for?" Irene said.
"Well, we think it's weird. Mitch as never said two words about this women. He goes away and suddenly he's married. Come on even you guys now that isn't right". Luke said.
"Why not? People get married all the time, and Mitch as never been the one to share much about his private lift. He sure wouldn't tell people about his wife". Irene said.
"That's what I mean. We never even saw a picture of her. And they been dating for a while and boom there married. Please". Luke said.
"Yes they are married. They kept their relationship off the records. Their is no harm in that. What we do have a problem with is you thinking it's ok to bug there home. You have no right to do that". Irene said.
"Yeah well, Mitch doesn't need to know". Luke said.
"Yes he does. He has every right to know. It's their private life. And he will be told". The man said.
"He's going to be pissed when he does find out". Irene said.
"Honestly why bug the place. Will put you on a warning. You do anything like this again your out of here,ok?" Irene said.
Luke nodded and looked at them both.
"When they get back you better stay out of their way, especially Mitch's. Because he will probably land up breaking your nose or even worse". Irene said.
"Well, if you ask me it's not a normal marriage. Something is not right with it. They been married this long but still haven't done anything with each other. That is one weird marriage". Luke said.
"What they do when there own their own is really none of your business. And how do you know they don't. They could be very quiet for all you know". Irene said. Looking at him with a firm look on her face.
"Now no more of this ok". Irene said.
"Yeah ok. But we all know the truth will come out soon". Luke said.
Getting up and walking to the door. Leaving the room closing it behind him.  Both of them looked at each other.
They shook there beards.
"Marie will need to be watched a bit more now. I honestly don't trust that person. He couldn't give a reason why. And we all know Mitch wouldn't ask him to go into their home. Better let Mitch know. He's going to go Bloody Mad". He said.
"I know. As for the other thing he said about them not being like that in their marriage. Is he listening that closely". Irene said.
"Please. I don't want to think about Mitch and Marie doing that". He said.
"Jesus, their adults. I am surprised nothing like that as taken place. I guess Mitch is being a gentleman towards Marie". Irene said.
"Maybe. But please don't put that idea into his head, ok?" He said.
Irene shook her head. The man looked at her with a weird look on his face.
"The two of them seem good together. She is the first women he's allowed close to him for sometime". Irene said.
"Yeah well. They don't need to be doing that". He said.
"Their adults. Plus we don't want anyone knowing the truth do we, so until these people are caught they need to be". Irene said.
But he wasn't listening he soon left the room closing the door behind him. Irene sighed to herself. She knew this was hard on him. But this was about keeping Marie safe as non of this was her fault.
