My sister created a TikTok account last year; at the beginning of pandemic. She knows so many dance steps and can sing along to almost every song available on the site. Then one day, she discovered this underrated artist. The hit song is Chosen Last and it's basically about finding where you belong in a world where nobody chooses you. That's one of the best things my sister did for me---to introduce me to the amazing music and songwriting genius of Sara Kays.
If you haven't heard of her, do yourself a favor and check out her songs on any streaming platform---YouTube, Spotify, whatever. And I promise you, you won't regret it.
She's different. She uses her music to speak about things that aren't usually told in a song. Things like mental health, dealing with broken friendships, body image, recovering from loneliness, and even learning how to live with divorced parents. Her songs helped me through a lot of tough times when the pandemic started.
I love her for that.
And because you're reading this, I've decided to make a small playlist of her songs that you can listen to. Do know that these songs I've picked mostly focuses on mental health and struggles we encounter in our lives.
All the songs mentioned below are written and performed by Sara Kays herself.
• Chosen Last
• High School
• No Matter The Season
• Picture Of You
• Smaller Than ThisEnjoy!
