Choosing a career for yourself is such a difficult thing to do. You spend years and years studying a lot of things. And once you get to the final stage of high school, you are expected to immediately know what you want to pursue-‐-an imperative decision that would lead us to a lot of opportunities (and even failures) in the future.
I realized I wanted to be a writer when I was of a young age. I remember reading children's books in the library of my old school, getting lost in words, traveling to different places only by reading. It took me a few years to write stories of my own. And I began by writing short tales that I'd pass around the room for my classmates to read.
Now, I'm in college, taking up B.A. Creative Writing as my degree. Although I was sure of what I wanted to be from the very start, I'm still afraid of what would happen to me after graduating.
Picking a career is one hell of a tough decision. And I admit that there are times when I doubt if I'd ever succeed in this path that I chose; a path that so many people believe is mediocre and not practical.
I refuse to believe them, though.
At some point in our lives, we'll have to face the unknown future. But then I realized: why don't we face it by doing something we love? Something we're insanely passionate about?
If you have already chosen a path for yourself, congratulations! If not yet, know that believing in yourself is the best thing you can do to reach success. I know this because I've seen so many people who lacks faith with what they do.
I hope you find your true calling. And if you can't find one just yet, learn to explore a lot of things and look to where your truest passion lies.
