Chapter 15

"Let's go outside for a bit"

"Okay"

He took me to the nearby playground.

"We used to play here a lot when we were younger" He said. Ahh. The nostalgia.

"Yeah" I smiled.

"Are you okay August?" He asked.

"Yes.." I hesitated. "I mean. No"

"Yeah. Do you want to talk about it?" I nodded.

"I miss her so much." I say almost crying. "Her cooking, her smile, her presence" He nodded. We sat down on the swings.

"I'm sorry for your loss" He said sadly.

"Thank you" He stood up and hugged me.

"You can talk to me whenever" He smiled. I leaned into his hug. Crying into his chest. "It's okay. Let it all out" He said. It was so soothing. He pat my hair, rubbing my back. I sobbed so loudly. I haven't felt this comforted in a while. After a while I stopped crying and he sat back down on the swing.

"Do you feel better?" He asked.

"Yes. Thank you" then he smiled. I've never seen him smile so big. He looked like a pure angel. I got shy.

"Do you want to eat with my family?" He asked.

"Sure"

We walked to the train and to his house. We ate dinner together. His dad was working overtime again. His house is so lively. It felt good. I started to sob at dinner.

"Oh dear." His mom said. Holding my face. Lukas and Alex stared at me. Luka handed me a tissue. Alex smiled and rubbed my head. I swear they're all angels in disguse.

"Sorry" I muttered.

"No need to be" their mom said.

"That's right!" Alex said. Luka nodded agreeing with them. I started to laugh. They joined me. We went back to eating.

A year has passed now. My dad got remarried to some women. He doesn't know but he's being played by her dirty tricks. I finally found a college I want to go to. Or rather a college Luka is going to. I moved out of the house. Packing my things away in boxes. I found an old picture of Luka, Alex and me. Oh wow. This is when I first met them.

I put the picture in my wallet. Returning back to packing. After a while I finished and ate dinner. I'm going go leave tomorrow, to start my new life.

"August c'mere!" My step mom called.

"Okay!" I said.

"I found you a date! He is a beta but I thought he was cute. He wanted to meet you" she said. I cringed at the idea.

"Mo- Rose. I already have someone special to my heart." I say.

"Who?"

"Lukas." I say shyly.

"Not good enough. Go meet this person" my eyebrows furrowed.

"Shut up" I say.

"Hah! What did you say to me?"

"Why would I even go on a date right now or tomorrow?!" I say. "I'm packing then driving to my new apartment tomorrow"

"Whatever" she hissed.

"Why do I hear yelling" I hear my dad saying. He entered the living room. She started filing her nails.

"It's nothing papa" I said.

"You still call him papa? Haha" she laughed. My dad glared at her. As did I.

"Mkay. If you say so. Do you want to play catch outside? Before you go?" He asked.

"Yeah!" I say. I'm excited. We tossed the baseball back and forth. Until we could see the sunset.

"Whoa. It's beautiful" I say.

"Yeah." He started to cry. "I can't believe you're all grown up now"

"It's okay papa!" I hugged him. His arms wrapped around my back.

"I wish you and your sister were kids again. You grow too fast" He said. Wiping his tears away. "You're even taller than me now. Hahaa" He laughed.

"I always said I would be taller" laughing as well.

Eventually we went inside. The next morning I left for my new apartment. Saying goodbye to my dad.

Sometimes I would run into Luka at college. We had different classes. I was studying business and he was studying something else. We kinda became more and more distant. Regardless we would still talk to each other.

After a while we started to hang out. Like we did when we we're kids. So did Lawrence then Felix then others came along too.

I'm happy I was finally able to make a chapter about August and sorta about Lukas. Because it felt like they were sorta forced to be together in the beginning. Thanks for reading :)
