Chapter 21

Lukas POV

-a week later-

"I think I'm going to quit my job" I say. Sitting down at the table. August put bread in the toaster.

"Are you sure?" I nodded.

"It's for little pea" I smile. He smiled. Bringggg. Bringgg. His phone was going off.

"One second, Lukas" He walked out of the kitchen and into my room.

A bit later he finally came out.

"I got accepted. I got the job!" He laughed. Walking towards me.

"That's good!" I walked to him. Hugging him.

"Let's go celebrate!" He said excitedly.

"Oh? Where?"

"A nearby restaurant"

"Mkay. I'm happy for you" I chuckle into a smile.

"Thank you" He kissed my head. The toaster went off, the bread was toasted. I sat back down.

"When do you want to leave for the dinner?" I ask.

"Around 4PM"

"Okay" I replied.

After we ate I got dressed to go quit at my job. It's a bit much but I'd rather do it in person rather than on phone.

I drove up to the parking lot. Parking the car, I got out. It's really hot out today. It's almost summer. I can't believe it's already March.

I walked into the cafe, entering the break room.

"Is the boss here today?" I asked the workers. Lawrence isn't here today.

"Yeah. She's outside..." One of the employers said, "taking a smoke break" He was talking while eating.

"Thank you. Have a good break" I smile to him.

I walked outside. To the alley. She was there. Inhaling smoke then puffing it out.

"Boss?" I walked to her.

She looked directly at me, "Hi Lukas!" She says. "What brings you here? It's your day off"

"Actually I've come to quit" I could see the disappointment on her face.

"Why's that?" She asked meekly.

"Uh. I'm pregnant!" I gathered courage to say that. She looked relieved.

"So it isn't the work or me?" She chuckled.

"No! Of course not. You are a good boss. It was fun working here" I reply. She smiled.

"You're a good kid, you know that?" She said. "If you're with the father. Invite me to the wedding" she winked. Walking away. Ahhh. How cruel of her. I'm so embarrassed. I walked back to my car, driving back home.

After I arrived home I got a phonecall from someone. It's the same phone number as Officer Baker's.

"Hello?"

"Hello. This is Officer Baker. Takashi has been sentenced with 5 years of jail time" he said.

"Oh wow."

"Just wanted to let ya know. Goodbye now" He hanged up. That was fast. That's insane. I can't believe he's getting 5 years.
