Finally, the day Macy had been eagerly anticipating has arrived. It's her last shift before she gets a well-deserved break and a chance to enjoy life. Tomorrow, which happens to be Friday, she, along with her cousin Grace and their friends, will be flying to Las Vegas to celebrate Grace's birthday. Macy is technically going to chaperone Grace, but she's secretly excited about the trip too.
Unlike her wild cousin, Macy has always been a responsible and well-behaved girl. Throughout her life, she never sought out the party scene. Her extracurricular activities were limited to archery and skiing during winter holidays or family vacations. She's kept a low profile, which is why she's only known as Macy Sans outside of her family circle. You won't find her in tabloids or the news.
After arriving at her apartment a little after 9 PM, Macy quickly showered and packed her bags for the early morning flight. She plans to get a good night's sleep because who sleeps in Vegas, anyway?
Just as Macy is about to close her eyes and drift off, she hears a message notification on her phone. It's from her cousin Grace.
Gracie Girl 😼: Hey couz, don't forget to bring your sexy dresses and undies because you never know! See you tomorrow! 😜😘😘
Macy: You bet! I'll only bring my scrubs and crocs! See you tomorrow. 😘
The next morning, Macy's alarm goes off at 6:00 AM. She groggily gets out of bed, takes a quick shower, and puts on a comfortable outfit consisting of jeans and a white tank top. She pairs it with her white Yeezy sneakers. Surprisingly, she's ready ahead of time, which gives her a few minutes to make herself a nice cup of coffee. Macy heads to her kitchen and prepares a hazelnut cappuccino using her own barista coffee machine. It's a small luxury she indulged in to help her through long shifts and on-call nights.
Sipping her cup of coffee, Macy glances at the time—it's only 6:40 AM, which means she has a few spare minutes to call her mom. She dials her mom's number, eagerly waiting for her to pick up.
Dawn: Macy Izobel, I've been waiting for you to call me!
Macy: Good morning to you too, Mom. How are you and Dad?
Dawn: We're fine, still alive. When are you going to come and visit us? You seem to have more spare time for Vegas than for your parents.
Macy: Mom, you know how busy my life and job are. Grace has been planning this Vegas trip since last year. I can't cancel it now, especially since it's her birthday.
Dawn: So when will you have time for your family? Do I have to make an appointment too?
Macy: Mom, how about this? I'm actually on leave from work for a few more days after our Vegas trip. I promise I'll come and visit you and Dad then.
Dawn: You better, or your father will disown you! We miss you terribly, sweetheart.
Macy: Alright, Mom, I have to go, or I'll be late. Please tell Dad that I miss him too. I love you, Mom.
With that, Macy ends the call and heads to the airport. She arrives first, as planned. Grace and their friends are supposed to meet at the airport at 7:30 AM. They'll be using Grace's family's private jet to fly to Vegas. Knowing Grace's usual tardiness, Macy isn't expecting her to be on time. Grace always likes to make a grand entrance.
At ten minutes to 8:00 AM, Grace and the rest of their friends finally arrive. Despite the early flight, everyone is filled with excitement and chatter. They exchange greetings before Grace leads them to a separate entry for private jet owners.
Once inside the jet, everyone takes their seats, and the pilot makes an announcement over the PA system. "Good morning, ladies! This is your captain, Bill. In a few minutes, the plane will take off. Please have a seat and fasten your seatbelts. We should arrive in Vegas at 11:30 AM."
As the stewardess serves breakfast, people engage in lively conversations. Macy, seated in the last row, prefers to be by herself, engrossed in a book. Although she knows some of Grace's friends, she enjoys her own company.
One of Grace's friends, Beth, starts feeling motion sickness. Thankfully, as a doctor, Macy is always prepared. She provided Beth with an antiemetic pill to alleviate her nausea.
Somewhere along the flight, Macy must have dozed off because she was startled when the captain makes another announcement. "This is your captain, Bill, once again. In 20 minutes, we'll begin our descent. The time is 10:50 AM, and the temperature in Vegas is 24 degrees. It's a sunny day. Please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts. We'll be landing in Vegas shortly."
The private jet touches down on the runway, and everyone awakens from their slumber, filled with anticipation. The captain's final announcement confirms their arrival in Vegas.
Upon arrival, a limousine awaits them. Grace and her friends entered one by one, with Macy being the last to step into the limo. Just as on the plane, everyone is buzzing with excitement, and alcoholic drinks are passed around.
The limo ride from the airport to their hotel took around 30 minutes. Once they arrived, each person received their room key card. Macy and Grace shared the largest room in the hotel, featuring two bedrooms, a mini kitchen, and a spa bath with a view.
"Couz, we're about to kick off my birthday party in a few minutes, so you better get dressed," Grace exclaims, brimming with excitement.
"But, couz, can I have a couple of hours for myself? I'd love to have a spa bath and get some sleep. I promise I'll join your party later tonight. I just need some rest before we start partying," Macy pleads, giving Grace her best puppy-dog eyes.
Grace, becoming slightly annoyed, relents. "Fine! I know you always lacked sleep on normal workdays. I'll let you off for now. But tonight, no more excuses! We're in Vegas, for heaven's sake. Try to have some fun!"
Macy hugs her cousin, and Grace heads off to kick off her birthday party weekend.
Finally, Macy had some much-needed quiet time to herself. She starts preparing the bath, turning on the water and adding bath salts. She ensured the temperature was perfect, avoiding scalding or freezing water. Macy turns on the water jets and played her favourite music using the built-in Bluetooth speaker.
She indulged in the bath for a couple of hours, then decided to finish up with a quick shower. Glancing at the clock, she realizes it's only 1:30 PM. Feeling hungry, Macy ordered room service for a peaceful lunch in her room.
After the meal, Macy received a text message from Grace, reminding her about the dinner at an expensive restaurant and the subsequent bar-hopping and partying.
Checking the time once more, Macy estimated that she still has 1 to 2 hours to sleep before getting ready for the birthday dinner and party. As a busy neurosurgeon, she knows sleep is a luxury she shouldn't pass up. She sets an alarm to wake her up in 2 hours and took a nap, ensuring she'll have the energy to enjoy the evening's festivities.
