Macy's POV
My dad didn't waste time. After the 3 hours drive, he only gave me 1 hour to rest then we started working.
It's the first time that I have seen my dad work. I was amazed at how everyone respected him. He was more uptight and authoritative. Everyone listens when he speaks.
This office counter part of dad's company was not as big as his company's building back home.
Dad introduced me to Adrian the General Manager. Adrian was taller than me and he had black hair and brown eyes. We shaked hands and he gave me a tour. He also gave me an overview of what they do and what's their function.
My office was located near Adrian's office as I will be shadowing him. After the introductions and formalities, I left dad at the office and the driver took me to where I was going to live. It was only 5mins away from the office. And my apartment was on the top floor and I had the city view. The set up is good as the living area, the kitchen and the balcony are on the east while the bedroom is on the west. Which means I get to enjoy the sunset. And I won't have glaring lights in the morning.
The apartment was already furnished so I didn't really need to buy anything. I was also grateful that dad took notice of my love for coffee. He made sure I had a coffee machine. The driver helped me with my luggage. And before he left he gave me an envelop. Apparently, my dad told him to give it to me.
I opened the envelop and I was surprised to see a car key. And it's a Jeep. I was excited to find out what kind of Jeep it was! I couldn't wait to check it out.
I am forever grateful for everything that dad had done for me. And I'm happy that we could finally connect.
I unpacked my clothes and put them away. I changed my clothes and sat down for a while trying to get familiar with the new place that I will be calling my home for a while.
When I walked to the kitchen I found a box and it was a new phone.
I had left my old one back home purposely. I'm trying to build a new life. I have to left everything that had connections to Oliver.
Oliver.
I try not to think about him because it still hurts. I try not to think about him because I miss him. I miss the way he calls me baby. I miss the way he smells. I miss everything about him. But he betrayed me. He used me.
I zoned out again because of Oliver.
I need to accept that what has been will never happen again. This is my new life now and I don't want his memories to hold me back. And most importantly I wanted to be happy.
I pushed my thoughts about Oliver away and freshen up. I had to go back to the office because I needed to set up my ID and my security log ins.
I went to the car park. To my surprise, dad bought me a 2 seater yellow rubicon sport s. I laughed because I remember asking him to buy me the same car when I was still studying. But he didn't buy me one because he didn't liked that I was studying to be a doctor.
It's a 4x4 so I could literally drive it anywhere.
I hope they have good national parks and walking trails here. I can't wait to make new memories with my rubicon.
I drove my new car back to the office. My dad was nowhere to be found because apparently he had to check the shipping containers that the company uses to transfer different things. I have no idea what they were talking about!
"Hi Adrian! I'm ready to start." I told Adrian. I was actually nervous because I have no idea what this job would entail. I'm used to being inside the operating room.
"Welcome again Miss Snider" Adrian greeted me.
"Macey will be just fine." I told Adrian.
Adrian was easy to get along with. I have a feeling that we will become good friends.
Anyways, he led me to my office. It wasn't big but I had a nice view. I had my own laptop. Adrian explained that since I will be shadowing him, I won't have a secretary but we will be sharing his secretary which is Mrs. Gibbs.
Adrian said I won't officially start until Monday nextweek but since my dad is here, he has to pretend that I have started working. But of course, he reminded me that I don't know anything about it. Haha! I love him already.
Finally, my dad has to leave because his 1 week is over and he is needed back home. He told me that if I needed anything, I just need ask. That I could call him anytime. I was so touched that my father is making sure that I will be alright.
But living away from my family is not a new thing to me. I studied at a boarding school overseas. I also did my premeds overseas.
My first day at work came. Adrian laughed at my outfit. He told me that there will be a lot of standing and walking so I need to buy comfortable shoes. Heck I was embarrassed. I thought I was going to make an impression
My first week at the office has been honestly brutal but I'm grateful that Adrian has been very helpful and patient to all my questions. He also told me all the nice places to eat and unwind. He also told me all the beautiful places where there are walking trails.
On my first weekend, I went to a place called broken hill to go bush walking. The place was so amazing! I've even met a new friend. Her name was Loise. I asked her what she does and she told me that she's a free spirit. She is so funny! I even asked her how much does a free spirit earn, I might consider changing careers.
Loise and I has exchange our mobile numbers because she said, she could use a friend to go bushwalking with. I told her that I was keen. And she would text me if ever.
I'm glad that I'm starting to find new friends.
It has been more than a week since I arrived in this new place. My work is starting to get easier. But I'm still struggling to balance my life as I am actually studying business management online.
My dad said I needed to study basic business management so that I would get an idea about managing a business.
It's finally friday after what felt like forever!!! My phone vibrated.
1 message received.
Loise: hey friend! Do you wanna go to the beach tom?🏊♀️
Me: OMG YES PLS!!! 🤩
Loise: it's called bulli beach. See yah then.
It's the first time after a long time that I'm going to the beach!!!
Then I saw Adrian.
"Adrian do you want to go to bulli beach tomorrow?" I invited Adrian.
"Sure. I'll pick you up." And Adrian accepted my invitation.
It'a going to be fun!!!
