Slowly the large crowd trickled to the last of the guests. The sky was sparsely cloudy occasionally blocking the dewy moonlight threatening to spill, she couldn't believe it was over in just one day. It was everything she imagined it would be.
"Damn look at you getting millions for a painting." Tae ho teased nudging her shoulder with his elbow. "I wouldn't say that but whatever." She flipped her hair over her shoulder sassily before the both of them broke into a fit of laughter. "Honestly though Tae ho, you've been there for me and you've got me through tough times..." She drew out smiling gratefully at the man who gave her a lopsided grin "Can we not get sappy now. Besides you take care of Kai too so I gotta do something." He shrugged.
The little one gave her a gummy smile thumb in his mouth. He looked a lot like Tae ho, with his curly mop of hair and glinting eyes and curved lips. "Your parents say anything?" She asked taking the baby who reached out his chubby arms toward her. She perched him on her hip kissing his flushed cheek before slowly pulling out his thumb. Tae ho let out a frustrated sigh and then chuckled thinking about his furious parents but he didn't need them, his life wasn't their second shot at being happy. "Nope nothing. But I have something better." He cooed before breaking into a laugh at his son's vain efforts to pull his tiny hand out of rin's stronger grip.
"Hell yeah, you got chick magnet Kai right here." She bounced him on her hip erupting a bubbly giggle out of him. "Yeah if you consider seventy year old grandma's chicks." He rolled his eyes watching how happy kai turned in Rin's presence. He loved watching the both of them, it somehow made him feel less lonely as a single parent. Maybe in some other life, A-Rin would've fallen in love with him but with kai in his life, nothing else mattered. He wouldn't have it any other way.
"You should probably put him to sleep, it's way past his bed time." She said. "Yeah, do you mind taking care of him till I get my car?" He asked. "Like I ever would " She bubbled stroking the one year old's soft hair who now nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck feeling sleepy. "Seriously, thank you." He mumbled pressing a kiss to her temple before walking away in the direction of his car.
She bounced the baby slightly lulling him to sleep. She looked up to see Jungguk, Ji tae and Namjoon engage in a conversation at the top of the carved stone stairs opening to the grand entrance of the art gallery but Namjoon didn't look too interested as he leaned his head on the pillar, fists pocketed as his eyes blinked down lazily at her as if he couldn't believe how she looked so much like an angel. Her cheeks flushed watching him lick his lips before ripping himself off the pillar and jog down the stairs, dark hair tossed around by the rough cold wind of Seoul exposing his forehead. Warmth pooled in her stomach as he halted in front of her, lips red from the cold.
"You're here." She mumbled. He smiled, eyes grazing the sleeping baby in her arms. "I promised to stay so...do you want to get a drink?" He asked eyes fluttering between her parted lips and her chocolate iris'. Her chest heaved with the dry air entering her lungs moving the necklace on her collarbone slightly as she thought.
"I-I just think we need to talk." He said desperate to get her to say yes. "Alright." She said nodding. Her eyes flicked to kai who somehow got his thumb between his lips again. "Yah inma, how many times do I pull it out." She mumbled softly circling his hands around his tiny fist and pulled his thumb out. He gurgled in his sleep making her tense knowing how terrible it was to wake up a sleeping baby. Namjoon chuckled next to her. "It's not funny, maybe you should try putting a grumpy baby back to sleep." She whispered. He cleared his throat "So, where's Tae ho-ssi" He asked. He adored babies and this one looked crushable but all namjoon wanted right now was to get things cleared with the A-Rin. She flicked her chin in the direction of the sleek black car making it's way towards them. Tae ho got out clearly not happy about namjoon's presence .
