I went up the second floor and passed by the chairman's room. I saw him discussing with a doctor. I tried to discern who it was.

I guess I should start doing my rounds now before he drags me again with his scut work.

After visiting a few patients, I went to the cafeteria to get a cup of hot chocolate. I saw a lot of medical staff whispering to each other. The others were looking at me suspiciously, which made me curious. I saw my friend and signalled her that we need to talk. She silently and slowly ran to me and asked what's going on.

"Why are these people looking at me weirdly?" I inquired.
"Hmmm...maybe because of the rumor?"
"What rumor."

"Oh no. The emergency room says code red. I need to go." she said and ran to the ER. Why is it that everytime she says something important, she runs away.

I need to know what's happening.

I tried looking for Haruto around the hospital but I couldn't see him. The doctors were really busy. Maybe he's in an operating room.

I looked inside the ORs and searched for Haruto. Still, no sign.

where the heck is this guy. he's gone when i look for him but when i don't, he just pops out of nowhere. do the gods despise me that much?

I just waited for my friend to finish her job in the emergency room. I sat in the cafeteria again and drank a cup of coffee. Again, a few nurses passed by me and started whispering to each other. They're slowly getting in my nerves...

"Konnichiwa~" I saw the guy I've been wanting an explanation from but I wanna shut up.
"You've no extra work anymore?" I asked, pretending I didn't see him in the chairman's office.
"Nah. They already gave me an office and I can start having patients of my own, at last."
"I see..."

That's not a suspicious topic at all. I thought the chairman wanted to talk to him about me... I assumed too much.

But why the fuck is everyone whispering when they see me though?

Another group of nurses passed by and they paused in front of our table.
"Oh, are you two not engaged?" the nurse asked.

"No way!" I answered in an annoyed way.

Everyone in the cafeteria were looking at me. I realized what I did and apologized for the sudden outburst.

"I'm sorry. You got the wrong person." Haruto answered calmly. The nurses apologized for the misunderstanding they caused and fleed.

"What was that?" I asked him.

Haruto got a little uncomfortable but answered immediately.

"I really don't know." he sipped from his cup of coffee and stood up. "Wanna visit my office?"

This guy's a good topic changer. He looks like he's hiding something. But, I don't want to press any further. It might be something really personal.

"Alright. You really want to brag about it, huh." I stood up and followed him.

"Of course. It's something a doctor should be really proud of."

Haruto looked so happy. I can't help but smile. I'm so proud of him.
