haruto

I looked at our booth entrance proudly. I felt satisfied. I wiped my sweat with a face towel and drank water.

"Haruto, it's up to your music." the music club leader gave a me a pat on the back. I smiled and nodded.

I sat on the bench and thought about the music for our club's showcase. It was almost done but something was lacking. I didn't know what it was. We got the theme down, the lyrics, vocals, and all that's necessary for it to be a song. What is it that is lacking?

"Hey."
I looked up and saw a familiar looking girl in front of me. She is a senior, judging from her uniform and looks (no offense). She looked teary.
"Huh."
"Ha-Haruto, am I right?" she shyly asked. Confession?
"I'm sorry but I'm not interested in dating." I immediately turned her down. I bet she's going to cry desperately for a chance.
"E-Eh? You don't remember me, Ruto-kun?"

Ruto-kun?

"Ruto? No one calls me that."
"I-I see." she seemed like she lost hope and turned away.

Who would call me Ruto-kun anyways. Except when we're in Japan, I know who-

"RIMA-SAN!"

She turned to me and her eyes widened. They were shining from the fresh tears. Then, she smiled. She ran to me and hugged me so tight.

"Ruto-kun, you remember." she happily cried.
"I'm sorry for not recognizing you, sensei."

She pulled away and smiled cheerfully, like how she would when it was my turn to enter the stage in that one competition.

"How's my little boy?" she cupped my cheeks as she looked me in the eyes.
"He's now taller than his master." I chuckled and she hit me on my arm.
"I'm your senior, have respect." she pouted.
"I'm like a few days older than you." I barked.
"I'm more intelligent than you and managed to advance to higher level than you. I'm still your senior, plus your master."
I just scoffed and we both laughed.
"Still rapping?" she asked.
"Nah, not really."
"What happened?"
"Just lost hope because of losing a lot of competitions." I suddenly frowned from remembering the memories of my previous competitions.

"That doesn't mean you have to give up, right?" Rima placed her arm over me. I just kept quiet. Rima smiled.
"There will be a day that you'll shine, and ther will always be a reason to every success. You just gotta find what or who drives you to the top."

Rima stood up and she shone so bright under the sun. She's always like that. She doesn't need a spotlight. She shines on her own, and that's what I admire about her. Though I only see her as my sensei and a great friend. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Well, I'll go help my classmates now. See ya!" she walked away. Rima is still herself and that's the best thing about her. She believes in herself more than anyone does. She's a paradigm of virtues. I look up to her for that. Though, this feeling will never progress. I respect her and I am fine with our friendship. She's my sensei and will always be.

My heart is already for someone else.

I smiled but after a few seconds, I had a disgusted expression on my face...again.
