eunri

I didn't want to go to the hospital today. Things between me and Haruto might get a little awkward. Plus, he's going to get married. I can't be seen walking around the hospital with him. They might suspect me.

"Go to work, Eunri." my Mom said.
"I want to look after you today Mom."
"Oh, shut up. You'd even talk back like you're the one in authority when you were younger."
"Come on, Mom. It's all in the past. Can't I just stay here with you?" I begged. I just don't want to go to the hospital...but I care for Mom okay?
"No, go to work. I'm fine with the caregiver here. I'm tougher than I look.
"Mom.."
"Just go to work. No need to worry about me."

Oh I know you can fight it Mom. I just don't feel like working right now...

"Alright."

"Bye Mom! Bye Eunri." Heeseung left.

sigh

I should hurry and prep for work.

-----

I arrived at the hospital and felt really uncomfortable. Nari called me earlier and it made me feel a little bit better. It's been a while since we've talked to each other. But now, I'm in front of my doom. I hope Haruto's busy with the marriage preparations.

I walked to the entrance and immediately went to the cafeteria. I bought myself a cup of hot chocolate, silently hoping that Haruto won't show up.

"Eunri."

yikes...

"H-Haruto."
"Let's do our rounds?"
"I-uhh. I'm sorry. I want to do mine alone." I replied.
"I can just accompany you if you want me to." he offered.
"No, thank you. I'm good." I smiled and left him there.

This is good. I should avoid him no matter what happens.

haruto

She's acting a little different today. Maybe she's stressed. I should think of something to cheer her up.

"Doctor Watanabe." the chairman called.
"Yes?" I turned to him and bowed.
"You have a patient."
"Oh, I see. I'll be right there." I was supposed to leave but the chairman called me again with a serious face.
"You're a regular doctor now, Watanabe. You should stay in your room. I don't want to see you doing rounds with Nurse Lee ever again."

The chairman walked away, leaving me silent in the hallway.

Right. I'm about to get married.

But Eunri's behavior...does she know?

Only one way to find out. I should find her after work.

----

"Finally."

I sat on my chair, relaxed. That's the last patient I have for today.

I should order Eunri's favorite now.

I ordered a wintermelon milktea online and waited for it to arrive. When it did, I immediately looked for Eunri. I asked a few nurses if they saw her. The problem was, this hospital is too damn big for nurses to know each other.

After a few minutes of looking for nurses who know where Eunri was, I saw the nurse who was usually with her during her breaks.

"Excuse me."
She turned to me and slightly blushed.
"Y-Yes?"
"Do you know where Eunri is?" I asked.
"Oh, uhh. I think she left already. Or maybe she's waiting for a bus outside?"
"Okay, thank you so much." I smiled and bowed.
"Uhh can we take a quick picture the next time we see each other? Hehe." she shyly asked.
"O-Of course!" I awkwardly smiled and bid goodbye to her. Well, I guess I'm really handsome.

I hurried to the main entrance of the hospital and looked for the nearest bus stop. I saw a familiar figure near it and immediately ran towards there.

"Eunri!"
She turned around and looked hesitant to ignore me. She got a little uneasy and decided to walk briskly.
"Eunri, wait for me!"
She finally stopped and I went in front of her. I showed her her favourite drink and bent to level my face with hers. "Can we talk?"

She breathed deeply and sighed. Then, she faced me with a serious face.

"There's nothing to talk about. I wish you luck with your wedding. From now on, don't you ever get involved with me."

Then she left me once again, crushing my hopes of getting back the relationship we had when we were younger.

I'm so stupid.
