Origin of Obedience
"June, Morioka: Taichi Kanda. August, Yokohama: Osamu Shimada. September, Nagoya: Hiroshi Yamato. These three died under the same circumstances." Jujutsu High Auxialary Manager, Akari Nitta said while driving. "Death by stabbing at their respective apartment's entrance. Also, all three had recently complained to building management. The auto-lock on the automatic doors was wide open. However, non of the other residents noticed."
"But all the dates and locations are different." Megumi said who's sitting at the back of the car with Yuuji and Nobara while you were sitting in the passenger's seat.
"Did they really get killed by the same cursed spirit?" You asked Nitta as you handed out the files to Megumi.
"Does the door issue have anything to do with the cursed spirit?" Yuuji asked. "Can they even trip door sensors? I mean, they don't show in cameras so..."
"It's not the door sensor. the door operation was influenced by the cursed spirit and went crazy." Nitta answered.
"Right..." Yuuji said as if he understood what the word 'operator' means.
"It's hard to confirm from the crime scenes whether or not it's the same cursed spirit. From what I've seen earlier from the CCTV record you showed us, Nitta-san, some time elapsed after the crime..." You added.
"Correct. We also investigated if there is a common thread connecting all three. We found that they all went to the same middle school for two years."
"So, the three of them got the same curse and then it manifested after all these years?" Nobara speculates which made Yuuji made an 'O' on his pinkish lips.
"Yup, there's a good chance that's the case."
"Nice, Kugisaki!" A soon as Yuuji complimented Nobara, she flipped her shiny red hair like it was nothing.
"We're on our way to talk to a classmate who knew all three. I'd like the four of you to observe as shamans." After a few minutes, Nitta parked the car near a house that was holding a funeral.
"A funeral?" - Yuuji
"This is where their classmate lives?" - Nobara
The 5 of you got out of the car to observe before entering the house. You were busy braiding a strand of Megumi's raven black hair. He didn't mind it while Yuuji came close to observe how you braid your friend's hair.
After asking questions from the victim's family, Nitta sighed. "This ain't good. Seems like he died the same way as the other three. He lived with his parents and there's no auto-lock. But he was killed in front of the entrance. He claimed that even though the door was unlocked, it wouldn't open... or so family says."
After talking to the victim's parents, you all went to Saitama Urami East Junior High, the school where the victims used to study together.
