Ch. 5

~Ch. 5~

(Rabbit POV)

~Wink's House~

I sat on the couch, continuously staring at Alex. God she was fucking sexy. Yet she was willing to waste her time with white trash like me. Everyone was having a pretty good time. Iz, Sol, Cheddar, and Elaine were all sitting in an area, Elaine's face red as ever as the other guys were laughing at her. They were talking quietly that I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. Can't have them keep any fucking secrets with me.

"You like?" Future asks, gesturing toward.

I sigh, "She's gettin' outta the D though, man."

"Negro please that's what they all say."

"Nah, think she's different," I point at the chick that Future was flirting with, "Ay man. That chick really blew both you guys?"

Future laughs, "I'm a sinner James. Come to church with me in the morning."

Cheddar comes nervously up to Alex's friend, tapping her shoulder and saying, "Hey, I saw you talking to Papa Doc in the Chin Tiki. How do you know him?"

She huffs, "You mean Clarence?"

I laugh inside. Really? Papa Doc? Clarence? Fucking dumbass.

She adds, "He went to Cranbrook with Christine's brother."

I almost felt like bursting out loudly. So much for Leadaz of the Free World.

Future sighs suddenly, "Fuck, Wink man. Tryin' to keep us in division with that fake ass Big Willie wannabe talk."

"No shit wrong with a free demo."

"Free comes with a dick right up yo ass, Jimmy. 313rd is real. That shit Wink's talking about is whack."

I sigh. Maybe Future was right. Considering Wink is working with Leadaz a little bit. But that a little bit could turn into full time.

(Elaine POV)

"Oh shit! Really?!" Sol said shocked as ever but quietly. We all had to stay quiet or else Rabbit will hear us.

Iz nodded, smoking his joint, "Yep."

Sol laughed, smacking my back, "Elaine yo so-"

I smacked his hand away, grumbling, "Don't fucking touch me."

Sol laughed louder, "You really do got a thing for-"

I cover his mouth quickly, hissing angrily quietly, "Nigga Rabbit is right fucking there! So shut the fuck up!"

Cheddar says, "Elaine there's nothing to be embarassed about it. We all have eye candy for someone."

I sigh, taking my hand off Sol's mouth and taking my snapback off and letting my hair hand down freely, "Fuck like I would know, man. Look why don't you dumbfucks go talk about abandon buildings and shit."

Cheddar says loudly, finally changing the subject, "Yeah! Really why isn't anyone doing anything about it?"

Iz says, "Yeah I don't understand why the media's not all over this. I tell you it's just a matter of time before it happens again. The city don't give a fuck."

I hear Future and Rabbit grumble from afar simultaneously, "What the hell is he talking about?"

Cheddar replys, "That abandoned house where the little girl got raped."

Iz adds, "It's what you call an 'attactive nuisance. Better believe that place wouldn't still be standing if it was on the other side of 8 Mile."

Cheddar says worriedly, "It could have been Lily, Rabbit!"

Rabbit mouth gaping open than glanced at Future smirking, then glancing at Sol returning the same look. He glanced at me with a knowing smile, I return it with a nod and a smirk, knowing we're all on the same page.

~Abandoned House~
I dumped all the alcohol in my can on an old creaky door, the sound of splashes of other people pouring on other stuff filling the room.

Future yelled, "Burn this shit down, baby!"

Rabbit laughed, pouring one over a broken bookshelf. With the rest of the gang helping, we all the bottles burning alcohol we had were empty.

"Ay! Anyone gotta light?!" Sol asked.

I reached into my pocket and searched for my light. I pulled it out, tossing it to Sol.

Cheddar said, "No! No! I got it!"

We turned our heads, a piece of lit cardboard in his hand eyes wide when he tossed it out carelessly. We exclaimed simultaneously, "No!"

The single flame grew instantly, transforming into a monster of burning fury. We all panicked running out the door. I jumped over few broken furniture, just letting my instincts control myself in this situation. The fire engulfed the house slowly, but we beat it before it had its reach on us. I ran back outside the cold, Detroit night air, the intense heat of the fire escaping off me. I looked back, cheering loudly, "BURN MUTHAFUCKA! BURN!"

Future and the others followed suit and we cheered and sang for a long while. I looked to see Rabbit, chatting with Alex near a swingset. I glare at her. Jeez, what a fucking skank she was...ugh I felt I would hate her less if I didn't know her more than I wanted...but I guess it doesn't work that way. Once Alex walked away from Rabbit, I walked up the first thing saying, "Don't do it. It ain't worth it with her."

Rabbit says, "Man, shut the fuck up."

"Jimmy Smith Jr. I'm not fucking kidding. Don't do it."

"Ya know, ya kinda seemed like you knew Alex already."

I sigh, "Well yeah...I do."

"How?"

"Well she-"

"Hey Yo! Rabbit! C'mon!" We both hear Future yell.

Rabbit grunts, "Ay man I gotta go. Ya coming?"

"Can't, gotta go home make sure Sarah's in bed."

Can we talk about this some other time?"

I sigh, "Fine," we did our normal one hand handshake, "later."

"See ya."

Rabbit heads in Future's direction while I stood there biting my lip, hoping Rabbit just listens to me.

~Elaine's House~
I placed my little sister, Sarah, on the bed, stroking her dark curls and singing a lullaby to her softly. After I moved out of the house, Sarah was born and then my mom was killed when she was drunk driving and I took custody of Sarah since then. And that was 6 years ago. Yet it felt like yesterday. So Sarah doesn't even know her own mom, which is the one thing I regretted. I finish singing, kissing her forehead, "Night baby. Go to sleep."

"E?" Sarah asked. I let her call me that.

"Yes sweetie?"

"Can I have Lily come over and have a sleepover?"

Lily, Rabbit's sister, and Sarah were best friends. They always hung out with each other more than anyone else.

I sighed heavily, knowing it has been a while since she and Lily have hung out, "Alright since tomorrow's Sunday, I won't have to work but Rabbit has to. But I'm pretty sure he can do it."

Sarah exclaims, hugging me, "Yay! Thank you sis!"

I laugh, returning the hug.

"Yeah Lily says she wants to hang with Sarah." Rabbit says through the phone.

I sigh, "Alright cool. I'll pick her up around 7:00?"

"Yeah that should be fine since I have to work at 8."

"A'ight. It's all settled then.

"Cool. I gotta go, Elaine. See ya."

"But-"

He hung up before I could finish. I sigh. I was going to tell him how I knew Alex...oh fuck will he ever listen?
