Just before they got home, Dean suddenly startled. "IT WAS NOT ME!" He yelled and Kelly almost came into the oncoming lane. Dean rubbed his eyes and wiped the tears from his face. "Hey buddy, did you have another nightmare?" Kelly asked, looking in the rearview mirror. "Yeah." Dean said in a shaky voice. "Do you want to tell us what you had for a dream?" Kelly asked. "Everyone at school was mean to me and said I started the fire in James' garage, but I didn't." Dean said. "Shh, I know, listen up, when we're home, we'll sit down and you tell us what's going on at school, okay?" Kelly asked. Dean nodded and put his head back on the teddy bear. Kelly and Stella looked at each other and Stella then looked at Dean, who smiled at her tired and with tears in his eyes. "Hey, everything is fine with you, you scared us when you almost came into the oncoming lane." Sylvie said as they arrived at home and got out of the cars. "Yes, all good, Dean just had another little nightmare." Kelly said and picked up his brother. "Throw me on the couch." Dean said, as they came inside. "What, no, the couch is too small for that, you're just hurting yourself." Kelly said and let him down. After all the toys were brought to Dean's room, they sat down on the couch and Dean told what had happened at school. "Come here, then tell us why you don't want to go to school anymore." Kelly said and took Dean on his lap. "You remember the fire in the garage at James' house?" Dean asked and the others nodded. "When I came to school the next morning, suddenly nobody talked to me anymore and I was invisible to the teachers too." Dean said. "And do you know why?" Shay asked. "Because of Wesley, he's known to set buildings and objects on fire and then play the innocent witness." Dean said. "But he had a criminal record, didn't he?" Matt asked. "Yes, but they could never prove anything to him." Dean said. "But James knows that you can't help it, or has he changed his mind?" Kelly asked. "No, he and Julian are the only ones still talking to me, everyone else is mean to me and bullying me too." Dean said. "And what does the principal say?" Stella asked. "Nothing at all. I am as invisible to him as I am to the other teachers. Once an older boy pushed me and I fell and hit my knee. Mr. Kendall, our principal, didn't listen to me at all and the school nurse just sent me away, even though my knee was bleeding badly." Dean said. "Then what did you do?" Sylvie asked. "Then I went to the bathroom with Julian and we cleaned the wound and James got some bandages from the hospital room." Dean said. "After all, you still have two friends who can help you." Stella smiled. "Yes, we have known each other since kindergarten and have been inseparable ever since." Dean said. Kelly stroked through his little brother's hair. In the afternoon Dean was in his room assembling his Legos and other toys while the adults sat in the living room and watched TV. Kelly knocked on Dean's room door in the late afternoon and went inside. "Hey, I wanted to see if you're still alive." Kelly smiled. "Yes, look, I've already finished all of them." Dean said, pointing to the shelves behind his car bed. "Not bad, but you will play with them, or will they just stand in the rack?" Kelly asked and sat down next to Dean on the floor. "Sure, I'll play with them, but I want to finish everything first." Dean said. "Ah ok, listen, do you have to do any homework or something for school?" Kelly asked. "No, I always do everything in school, then I have nothing more to do at home." Dean said. "That's very clever of you, well, I'll call you when dinner is ready." Kelly said, kissing him on the head. "Okay." Dean said. Kelly watched him build and then left the room. "Does he have any homework to do?" Stella asked when Kelly came back into the living room. "No, he does everything at school, then he doesn't have to do anything at home." Kelly said. A few hours later, Kelly called Dean down for dinner. "Dean, dinner is ready" Kelly called. Dean came downstairs and jumped into his brother's arms. "What's for dinner?" Dean asked. "Chicken steak with gravy and French fries." Kelly said. "Mhmm, yummy." Dean said, ran into the kitchen and sat down at the table. They ate together and after everything was cleared and washed, Matt and Sylvie said goodbye and drove to their home.
