Dean was still sound asleep when Kelly came into his room at around 2:30 am to wake him up. "Good morning, Dean. Ready for our vacation?" Kelly asked, patting his back. Dean rolled onto his back and stretched. Kelly helped him get dressed and then carried him to the car, put him in the car seat and buckled him up. Stella, Shay and Sylvie packed the provisions for the trip in the new cooler, Matt stowed the last bags in the trunk and Kelly got Dean's Pokémon pillow, his blanket and his stuffed animals, without which he would not go to bed. Dean slept peacefully in his child seat while the loading was still being completed all around. When everyone was ready, Kelly started the engine and they finally went on their well-deserved vacation. When they were about 3 hours on the road, Dean got a little restless. "No, don't or I'll tell Kelly." Dean said in his sleep. Kelly looked in the rearview mirror, reached back and squeezed Dean's lower leg as a sign that everything was ok and he was safe. Dean then calmed down and slept peacefully on. Around 8:30 Dean woke up. "Hey, good morning." Kelly said. Dean rubbed his eyes and snuggled into his blanket. "Are you hungry?" Shay asked, pulling a sandwich and a chocolate drink out of the cooler. "May I watch TV?" Dean asked. «Yes of course. What do you want to do? Netflix, Disney+ or DVD?" Kelly asked, pressing a button on the dashboard. "Disney+, I want to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks." Dean said. Dean put on his headphones while Shay tunes him into the movie. "Kelly, I have to pee." Dean said. "Can you hold on a little longer? We're right at the next gas station." Kelly said. "Yes." Dean said. 5 minutes later, Kelly took the exit to the nearest gas station and parked the car. Before the journey continued, Dean was allowed to buy a few sweets and snacks.
After a 30-hour drive and an overnight stay in Las Vegas, they finally arrived at their Los Angeles hotel. Dean's mouth fell open when he saw the luxurious building. "Are you coming?" Kelly asked, who had already run ahead with the others. Dean ran to them and took Kelly's hand. «Welcome to the Family Resort LA. My name is Avery and I'm your personal contact." Avery greeted. While the adults checked in, Dean looked around the hotel lobby. "Kelly, there's a gaming area and an indoor playground here." Dean called and pointed to the hotel map. Avery laughed. "Your son?" she asked. "Not quite. He's, my brother." Kelly explained. «Ah ok, sorry... So, your room isn't quite ready yet, but I'll give you your key cards anyway, your room is number 425 and it's on the 8th floor. You can leave your luggage on one of our luggage trolleys and our staff will then take them to your room." Avery explained. "Why is 425 on the 8th floor and not on the 4th?" Dean asked, trying to look over the desk. "Because the rooms are on the top 4 floors and because our room numbers do not start with 1 as usual, but with 100, which means that rooms 100-199 are on the 5th floor, rooms 200-299 on the 6th floor, on the 7th floor rooms 300-399 and, on the 8th, floor rooms 400-499." Avery explained. "Ah okay." Dean said. Avery called 2 colleagues to help load the luggage onto the trolleys. After the luggage was stowed in the back room, Avery gave them some activity brochures, a hotel map, and a city map. "Kelly, I'm hungry." Dean said and pulled Kelly's shirt. "Ah yes, I remembered something else. We don't have a typical hotel restaurant here. We have various restaurants on the first floor where you can eat or you can cook in your room. Each room has a fully equipped kitchen, you just have to buy the groceries yourself." Avery said. "Then I suggest we go to the city center, get something to eat and on the way back we can go shopping." Kelly suggested and everyone agreed.
