Mihir arrived at Sanya's college, and looked around for her.
The sky was turning orange, as the sun was setting. He saw Sanya arguing with a boy.
"Rahul, I don't like you!" she said. "Why do you keep stalking me?"
"Why do you not like me, Sanya?" he asked, repeatedly hankering after her. Sanya looked at him in the eye and slapped him tightly, making a red mark on his cheek.
Mihir was enjoying her doing that. But he couldn't control himself when he saw Rahul continuously stalking her.
"Why do you do that again and again when she has made herself clear?" he asked, stepping up to the guy.
Sanya was relieved to see Mihir.
"Hey, who are you? Mind your own business," said Rahul rudely.
"Sanya is my friend," he said. "Just don't think of touching her, okay?"
Rahul was furious. He tried to attack Mihir, but our protagonist was no weak snail. He dodged the punches aimed at him with technique and ease.
"Come on Sanu," he told her. "Let's go."
"Mick, where did you learn all that?" she asked, as they began to ride away from there.
"School," he replied. "And from some movies."
"You were really spectacular."
"Thank you, Sanu."
"Anyway, I want to buy a perfume for Aisha," she said. "Can you take me to that shop?" she added, pointing to a posh-looking shop at the end of the street.
Mihir agreed, and both of them entered the shop. He watched her with admiration as she looked at perfume after perfume.
"Ah, got it!" she said to him, after getting her hands on a lavender-scented perfume. She paid the money and soon, both of them left.
"Thank you so much, Mihir."
"For what, Sanu?"
"For defending me from that idiot Rahul."
"My duty," said Mihir. "You are more than just my friend."
"More than 'just a friend?"
"Maybe... my special friend. The friend whose role can't be replaced."
Sanya giggled. She was happy with him, for he respected her real personality. He had always been there for her when she was sad or angry. He was her go-to person.
"Do you believe in love?" she asked him innocently.
Mihir was pleasantly taken aback by the question, but still, he kept a straight face.
"Very much," he replied. "And as a person who didn't know the value of love for almost eighteen years, I believe in it very much. If not for Raj, I would've probably been dead now."
"I know," said Sanya. "You and Raj are like Veeru and Jai. It was because of him that you met Prem and Rohit!"
"And most importantly, you."
Before Sanya could say anything, it started raining, making things more sensual.
"If we stay here any longer, we'll catch a bad cold," he said. "Let's go home before your big brother arrives to some wrong thoughts!"
Sanya agreed. She wrapped her arms around him throughout the ride.
After reaching home, Mihir's mind was in a state of chaos. She was the only thing on his mind now, and he dreamt of nothing but her.
She had once accidentally invaded his personal space, but Mihir hadn't been offended. He felt an intense pull towards her instead.
He muttered a song to himself, as he fell asleep, still dreaming about Sanya.
Chori chori chupke se aankhen meri aankhon mein sama jha,
Dheere dheere sapno ki soni soni duniya basa jha!
"I love you, Sanya."
