Chapter 5 - What a lie

Hermione P.O.V

I woke up to the blinding hospital light. When I glanced over to look at my mum I realized she was still asleep. A female doctor with brown hair and blue eyes came in and checked over my mum.

"Well how is she?" I ask in a nervous voice.

"She's stable but she may be in a coma." with that she left.

I didn't know how to feel so I kissed my mums forehead and left the hospital. I went back to our apartment to find my dad waiting for me.

"Hey."

"Hi dad. What are you doing here?"

"I came to check up on your mum but also on you. How are you holding up kiddo?"

"I'm alright just don't know how to feel about everything."

"That's understandable. How about I take you to Hogsmeade tomorrow and we can get your school supplies because you start school in 4 days."

I smile at him.

"I'd like that. It'll take my mind off of everything that's happened."

He smiles at me and then kisses my forehead.

"See you tomorrow princess."

"Bye dad."

My dad left the apartment. He told me he was staying in a nearby hotel so we could go to Hogsmeade together.

I turned on the TV and put on a movie. Just as I'm about to press play on the remote I hear a knock at the door. When I answer I see Ginny, Fred, George, Angelina, Katie, Harry and Oliver.

There's an awkward silence before I speak.

"Can I help you?"

"Can we talk?" Ginny smiles at me weakly.

I move out of the way of the door as a sign to walk in. They all walk in and I lead them to the living room. I sit down and look at them expectantly.

"Ok talk." They all look at each other before Ginny speaks.

"Well we just wanted to say sorry for how we all acted at the café earlier. It's just that we've been trying to meet up and get in touch with you all summer and you didn't respond. So when we met you at the café for the first time since the summer started and then you bailed we just felt disappointed and I even thought you didn't want to be friends with me anymore. So 'Mione I'm sorry."

I smile at them.

"It's ok. The truth is I have just had a lot going on this summer and believe me when I say I felt terrible for bailing on you guys was an under statement, but something really important came up that I couldn't pass up. So I'm sorry too."

We all share a group hug. I smile before we all pull away. My smile fades when I realize Ron's not there.

"Where's Ron?"

They all look at each other and shrug.

"I don't know he was with us when we left." Harry says looking at me with a sad smile.

"Oh ok." I look down at the floor before faking a smile and looking up at the group. "What do you guys want to do while you're all here?" The group looks hesitant before Ginny speaks.

"How about truth or dare?" Ginny suggests.

We all nod and sit on the floor in the living room.

"Ok who wants to start?" I ask.

No one answers until Ginny finally speaks again.

"I will. Mione truth or dare?" I feel all eyes on me.

"U-uh truth." everyone turns their attention to Ginny.

"Why do you trust Ron and Lavender so much?" everyone looks at me again. I sigh.

"Because he promised me that nothing is going on between him and Lavender and I trust him because I've known him since we were 11."

Ginny nods and the others stay silent.

"Wood, truth or dare?"

"I'll do dare."

"Snog the most attractive person here." Fred says with a smirk.

"Yeah go on Ollie." George chimes in. The others look at him with smirks. He sighs and approaches me. He hesitates and looks at me. Suddenly Ron and Lavender burst in laughing and Oliver moves away from me.

"Oh my gosh that was hilarious." Lavender notices us and her smile fades.

"Did we miss something?" Ron looks at all of us.

"No actually they were all just about to head off."

The group stand up and walk towards the door. Ginny turns around and hugs me before leaving with the others.

"We'll see you at Hogwarts 'Mione." Harry says before closing the door on his way out.

"So where have you two been?" I ask with my arms crossed and my brows furrowed. I look at lavender and see a purplish color on her neck and turn back to Ron.

"We were just hanging out at the café after you left. I thought you would want some space so I decided to stay."

I stay silent.

"Look I've got to go. You know what mum's like if I'm not back by dark." He kisses my cheek and then walks out leaving me and Lavender in an awkward silence.

"Hermione look. We got off to a bad start and I can't help but feel like you hate me so can we start over and put whatever we don't like about each other behind us. Friends?" She smiles at me sweetly and outstretches her her hand for me to shake.

I shake her hand.

"Ok."
