Don't Let Go
Chapter Two
I jumped awake from my peaceful sleep when I heard my phone ringing beside me, I rolled over reaching for it. I glanced at the time to see it was only seven in the morning. What ass whole wakes a girl up at this time in the morning?
"Hello?" I asked wondering who was and what the hell they wanted.
Sammi's thick British accent filled my ears. "Hey, get ready. I'm picking you up in half an hour." I opened the curtains to let the sun in; it immediately brightened up the room. I sighed and got up stretching my back; I finally registered what Sammi just said.
"Wait, what are you talking about?' I asked confused, placing the phone on my shoulder tilting my head to the side so the phone wouldn't fall. I stepped over the telephone cord, and walked to my closet.
"The road trip you planned with Mitch?" my eyes widen in recognition. I quickly got my navy backpack and sleeping bag.
"I'll be ready by then, I promise." I hung up the telephone and started stuffing shirts, pants, shorts and underwear and my bikini in case we went swimming. I opened my bedroom door and started making my way to our small bathroom and started stripping off my clothes and got in the warm shower.
Once I finished I wrapped my fluffy white towel around my body making sure it wouldn't fall off and started washing my teeth. I spit out the last of the toothpaste and grinned into my reflection just above the sink showing off my pearly whites.
I opened the door making my way to my room, I quickly locked the door and made my way to the underwear draw and got out a pair of black lace bra and matching panties, I walked to my closet and pulled out another pair of blue jeans and a white singlet. I tucked the singlet in my jeans and got a black plaid button up shirt. My hair was dry so I left it, I put my cigarettes and light in the front my jeans and stepped into my combat jeans.
Walking into the kitchen, backpack and sleeping bag in hand, I was stunned to see my parents out of bed so early. I hoped I didn't have to confront them and answer their nagging questions to where I was going, to tell you the truth I was just going to leave them a note say that I won't be coming back until the end of summer.
"Where are you going?" my dad asked in a harsh voice when he saw my bags, I rolled my eyes not wanting to hear any of this bullshit. My dad and I weren't in the best place right now, since my older sister, Sophie was killed in car accident only five months ago and my dad blamed me saying that she wouldn't be dead if I stayed home that night.
"I asked you a question, when I ask you a question you answer, got it?" He hissed. I mentally was strangling him but opted it was better not to go to jail for murder because it wouldn't look good on a résumé when I start my working life.
"I'm going on a road trip." I bit my tongue when I was about to say 'ass hole' and grabbed a toast and kissed my mum on the cheek, you might think that my mum would help me but if she ever intervened she would just end up making it worse.
"No." I was confused to what the fuck my dad was babbling about and then it clicked.
"What? What do you mean, no?" I spit out trying to refrain my anger when I was about to explode. He hasn't cared about me since the moment I was born just because he wanted a boy doesn't mean he can ignore me and then suddenly he starts telling me I can't go out with my friends.
"I mean no, you aren't going." He said he in low voice. I shook my head and laughed, I heard a car horn beeping who I was presuming was Sammi. I grabbed my bags and got wallet which had almost two thousand dollar saved up and started walking out the front door.
"Where the fuck are you going?" Mu dad yelled, I could see my mum looking at me with sadness in her eyes I knew she hated not helping me but there was nothing she could do. I smiled lightly at her and mouthed an 'I love you' and walked down the gravel path not bothering to answer my dad.
I walked up to the cameo and was surprised to see Sammi's mum driving. Lily Chandlers was beautiful and Sammi and she looked so much alike. They had the same blonde hair and blue eyes and both of them were quite tall, well taller than me.
"Hey Lily, how's it going?" I grinned giving her hug which she returned.
"Hey, Rose. Good, I'm just going to drop you girls off." I grinned at her and got in the back seat greeting Sammi with a hug. I slipped on my glasses and chatted with Lily and Sammi until we reached the lake.
We said goodbye to Lily and found the guys sitting on their bags sipping beer and smoking their cigarettes.
"Are you comfy there?" Sammi said eyeing Justin up and down, I glanced at Mitch who hadn't realised we were there and seemed to be thinking hard, I took the time to look at him. He was very good looking, he had tight jeans hanging low at his hips and a wife beater and leather jacket over it and a pair of cowboy boots. He was tanned which was to be expected from his Colombian heritage, dark brown eyes and full lips and his hair was midnight black and reached his shoulders, he obviously tried to tame his wild hair but instead opted for a black bandana around his forehead pushing his hair back.
"Oh, Hey Rose." He finally noticed us and scrambled to his feet, he saw Sammi next to me. "Hey Sammi," he nodded at her, then averted his eyes back to me. I looked at Sammi, she winked back at me while I just rolled my eyes.
We walked to their car, which was much like Sammi's but a dark blue and looked more taken care of. I felt someone tap on my shoulder, I faced my partner in crime. Sammi smirked and made crazy hand gesture towards me and Mitch, I looked at her amused and confused to what the hell she was talking about.
She groaned and tilted her head and whispered lowly in my ear. "Look like someone likes what he see." I scoffed at her comment not believing someone like Mitch Phoenix would ever like someone like me, I was a nobody and average looking. No guy like him would go for someone like me.
"I'm serious Rose, he is so into you." I giggled at her and chose to change the subject before she could pick up that I actually liked the guy.
"Anyway, what's going on with you and Justin? He seems into you," she smiled nervously and looked anywhere but at me, I immediately knew something was up between them.
"Oh my god, did he hurt you? Are you okay?" I started looking her up and down panicking that he hurt her in some way.
"What? No he didn't hurt me." I sighed in relief that he didn't do anything that would give me a reason to punch him in the face.
"Well, did anything happen? You know, something steamy?" I asked wiggling my eyebrows at her, she blushed looking down at her shoes intently and shook her head.
"Nothing happened." she said timidly, I rolled my eyes not believing one bit of the bullshit coming out of her mouth.
I started walking towards Justin having one intention in mind, and that was pestering him until he told me what happened between him and my best friend that made her not want to tell me. I mean it can't be anything bad, because she confirmed that he didn't hurt her so I might as well ask him and she usually tells me everything.
"What are you doing?" Sammi asked jogging to catch up with me, her boots clacking against the gravel road.
"I'm going to ask Justin what happened between the two of you, since you won't tell me." She instantly went into panic and started rushing out words and I was struggling to keep up with what she was saying. The only words I understood were 'I kissed Justin' I looked at her not sure if I heard her correctly; I looked at her while she nodded confirming her statement. I breathed laugh, this is what she was afraid of telling me?
"Why are you laughing? This is serious. I'm freaking out here and you are not fucking helping." I burst out laughing because she rarely swore and it was the funniest thing coming out of her mouth with her thick British accent. She sounded like the queen, I laughed harder at the thought while I wheezed trying to get my breathing out of control. I looked in front of me and noticed the guys were looking at me as if I was on some sort of 'happy' pill their faces were full of horror. I coughed awkwardly flattening my clothes and straightening my back putting on my sunglasses hoping to seal up my embarrassment.
"Are you done?" Sammi asked punching my arm and affectively scaring the shit out of me. I nodded and turned to her once the guy started getting in the car. I smiled as we got in the backseat of Justin's car, this is going to be one hell of a road trip, and I can't fucking wait.
