Don’t let Go

Chapter Fourteen

“Shit!” Justin cursed slamming the hood of the car. “It’s fucked.” He said kicking the door with his boot.

“What’s are you talk about?” Sammi asked turning her head to face her boyfriend.

He sighed, “The motor.”

“I think there was an house. It would probably take 10 minutes to walk and we can sleep the night there.” Mitch leaned against the passenger door, holding my hand in his tightly. I nodded, silently agreeing with his idea.

Justin shrugged his shoulders but grabbed his and Sami’s bags. “Lead the way” he said, nodding up the road where we came.

“Come on, slow coaches,” Mitch said grabbing his bag and slinging it on his shoulder, I rolled my eyes and followed in suit.

“How are you?” Sammi asked walking beside me as the guys talked while leading the way.

“Not too bad, since my best friend ignored me while she was off with her boyfriend doing God knows what.” I shoke my head in fake disapproval.

She pushed my shoulder, “Like your one to talk, you probably got it already, you hoe.” She laughed winking at me.

“Please, I’m as innocent as they come.” I joked pouting my lips.

Sammi snorted, “Sure, whatever you say.” She patted my arm.

I gasped putting my hand on my heart, “Are you implying I’m a cheap whore?”

“If the vag is big enough.” I wrinkled my nose at her statement. Gross.

“You’re disgusting,” she smirked at me while twirling her hair around her finger.

“Bite me.” She giggled, shrugging at me.

“That’s why you have Justin.” I mumbled under my breath. She flicked my forehead, telling me that she heard that in which I joked that it was definitely true with those hickey’s on her neck.

I laid down on the creaky bed, looking at the falling bits of paint that were pealing from the ceiling and corner of the small bedroom. “Hey Rose.” I looked up to see Mitch in the doorway. “Wanna go somewhere?” He asked nodding towards the small hallway.

I shrugged on  a dark jumper, “Sure, where are we going?” I asked putting on my boots.

“It’s a surprise.” He winked before grabbing onto my hand leading me out of the abandoned house.

I laughed my laughter filling the night air, we ran hand in hand. The wind was wild, blowing in my hair and clothes. We ran so long that my legs were burning, my stomach clenched in anticipation. “Where are we going?” I repeated after I saw we were going into a small clearing.

“Look.” He pointed towards the sky once we were ser in the middle of the clearing. It was beautiful. There were fireflies, their light slowly flooding our vision until I could see what we were standing. I gasped, it was not just any clearing, it was a meadow. It was filled with different flowers of all sorts and colours.

“It’s beautiful.” I whispered.

“Not as beautiful as you.” He whispered back, I turned to see him holding a single red rose in his hand. I tucked my hair behind me ear, feeling nervous.

“I love you, Rose,” he said grabbing my hand pulling me closely so our bodies were touching. “I love you so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to spend the rest of my life waking up to see you next to me. I want you to be mine. I don’t care how young we are and what our parents think or what society think. Fuck them all. Fuck society. I want you.” He looked at me with soft eyes me. I wanted this. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this man.

He gets down on one knee, dropping the rose on the grass. He goes into his pocket and pulled out a deep red box. The ring band is silver and in the middle is a small emerald diamond. “Will you marry me?” He looked so hopeful.

“Yes.” I whispered.

He grinned getting up and slipping the ring on my finger. His hand slipped into mine, holding my body tightly to his. “I love you too,” I whispered leaning my head on his shoulder.

“Let’s go, it’s getting late.” I tugged on his shirt  so that he was following me back to the house.

“Mrs Rose Phoenix, has a ring to it don’t you think.” He shook his head in wonder.

“Well duh, you have me a ring.” I joked holding up my hand.

“Funny,” he said dryly.

“I wonder what Sammi and Justin would do when we tell them were getting married.”

“Oh, Justin already knows and Sammi…well she’d be happy for you,” He said rubbing the back of his throat.

“Or she could get bad and saying I was too young.” I said imagining it.

“She’s not your parents, Rose. Sammi will be happy for you.” I sighed not quite convinced.

“Hey Rose, where have you been?” Sammi asked folding up a newly washed shirt in her bag.

“Out with Mitch.” I folled in suit and folded one of my old jeans and placing it in my backpack.

“How’d it go?” She sat on her sleeping bag that was set in the living room. I unrolled mine and sat down and turned so I was facing her.

“It was alright, we watched fireflies.” I turned my head towards were she was lying down. She grinned but said nothing. “I need to ask you a question.”

“Oh? And what’s that? She leaning her head against the wall. When I didn’t answer straight away she gave me a confused look.

“What would you say if Mitch and I got married?”

She laughed, “Where’s this coming from?”

“Just answer the question” I was getting impatient.

“I’d be happy for you.” She sounded sincere.

“Good…because I’m getting married.” I held out my hand so my ring was in her view

“Oh my god.” She grinned, “Well we better get planning,” she joked.

Just then Justin walked in beer in hand, “He’s whipped.” He exclaimed. “My best mate is getting married!”

“Stop being so dramatic.” Sammi rolled her eyes. I kicked off my boots and threw them to the side of the room.

“I’m going to see Mitch.” I looked up to see Justin wriggling his eyebrows.

“Going to get some tonight,” he said with a raised eyebrow.

I threw a sock at him, “No and even if we were, we’re so not doing it in a creepy house,” I said sticking my tongue at him. I walked down the hallway until I reached a dimply lit room, “Found candles I see,” I stated looking at the different coloured candles around the room.

“Yeah took a while though,” Mitch said from where he was lying down in the corner of the room.

I sat down next to him lying my head on his lap, “Why do you love me?” I asked playing with my hair.

“I love everything about you,” he said.

“No I mean as in as in what things do you love about me?” I asked looking at.

“When I look at you I see my future. I see my unborn children and a woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know what we’re doing is crazy.” He looked me in the eyes and I didn’t have the strength to turn away. “I love your hair and your smile, that smile is like a drug and you have no idea what you do to me when I first saw you a year ago I swore I never seen someone so beautiful and I wanted you so damn much it hurt.”

I was left speechless ever since I meet him I haven’t known what to say, so I leaned up and kissed him. I kissed him for the longest time. When I was with him I was just a girl who practically was homeless, I existed. I existed.
