THE RIVETING melody of a classical song by Mozart plays in the back of the ice rink, blasting on the speakers. The piano and violin play together in a dizzying rhythm, gradually changing speeds at unpredictable intervals. If she wasn't careful, she would lose herself inside the song. Her feet are steady and are facing forward. She takes a step backwards, trying to accelerate herself with speed.
A Salchow jump is one of the hardest jumps to master—at least by Seraphina's current level. It never can go perfectly. Her body is shifted the wrong way, perhaps her toes aren't pointed enough. Most of her exhausting days of practice drains her body and skaters end up at the cold, ice floor. The ice turns her skin red with coldness.
One.
Two.
Three.
She never got to master the Salchow jump.
Two months after the initial outbreak, Seraphina is told to leave the city to evacuate for safety. Despair and terror overtakes her body. She's much weaker than before quitting skating, a sprained ankle still recovering, and her father missing. All the muscle and memory she had faded to thin bones.
I think I should die here.
He didn't even leave a note behind after disappearing, leaving her to wallow in despair with horrid thoughts. The thought of her father intentionally leaving behind his daughter plagued her mind. Seraphina couldn't help but let her negative emotions infect every single part of her.
What's the point of leaving...?
A dead man won't rise from his grave.
One fateful day during the outbreak, a letter arrived to the apartment.
It read;
If you want the truth, you must go out and find it.
Search the police station and find your way towards the city sewers. Then you will find a lab where your answers may be.
Your senses and directional perception have always been amazing. I trust you will be able to find me.

After reading the enveloped letter, Seraphina tore it to shreds. The pieces of white paper fell like snowflakes in the sky. Hot, angry tears rolled down her cheek. This sounded like an awfully cruel prank. Even with his initials...
