BABY PINK PETALS FELL FROM THE MAHOGANY BRANCHES, the cherry blossom trees were full and flourishing in this season. They fell slowly like angels in the sky, dusting her hair with the pieces of the flower. Little girl smiled happily at the sight while her father picked the petals out of her hair.

Perhaps Seraphina was only five years old then—a ripe young age. So innocent she hardly remembered this now, sixteen years later. She'd often forgets bits and pieces of her past with her father, but this reassuringly always appeared back in dreams.

"Daddy, do you think mommy likes cherry blossoms?"

He smiled widely, eyes turning to the shape of crescents. "She does like them. If she was here, I bet she'd be picking up every petal and take them home."

Seraphina giggled. "Then she would be picking for a long time!"

Cherry blossoms smelled sweet, fragrant and clean.

So when her consciousness brought Seraphina back to reality, the first image burned into her brain, she sees is a large glass window. The room is dark and past the window is the courtyard, in the middle was a wilting cherry blossom tree.

Like the ever cold bitter season, winter ate away at the color and life of trees. Perhaps she was wilting away too...

"You're awake."

A icy, womanly voice. Sharp, fox-like eyes and a thin lipped smile. Courtney folded her arms together in an analyzing manner, watching as her niece get up from the cold bed.

Blind anger tore Seraphina apart, but before she could even try to stand on her own two feet, a silver handcuff to the bed stopped the girl. It was irrational, maybe even a lie by Annette. Either way, she didn't want to face her aunt.

"Why are you here?" Her voice dripped with malice, shaking the handcuff as if it would snap open. "You're Umbrella. You caused this. You did this to me!"

Courtney shook her head in pity. Her aunt scarily mirrored personality traits from Seraphina—both refused to back down without saying anything. Like cats who defend themselves.

"Oh, Seraphina...your so naive. Just like Stephen. I was wondering where you got that from. I was only a messenger, I pretended to work for Umbrella," Courtney began to explain, the click of her heels audible. "My job was to be a fake. Tell me, what was that cops name?"

Her words made Seraphina go quiet.

She was watching me. She saw Leon.

"What are you talking about?" She retorted quickly. Her cracks and weaknesses hadn't gone unseen. "So what if you were a spy? You had to know about dad."

"Don't act dumb with me. I want that cop's name. And no, I didn't know what happened to him. He was a reckless man," Courtney became impatient and started to circle around, pacing in calculated steps. "Which is why they took him in the end. He was their first test subject. Why do you think T-00 was running after you two?"

Courtney spoke of this lightly, as if it were a fictional story, the characters molding and welding into whatever she wanted. Seraphina couldn't believe what she was saying, even if there was truth to it.

"And you didn't try to stop it, not even once?"

"How could I? I had a job to do."

Isn't that what Ada did, is my aunt a mercenary too?

Seraphina wanted nothing but to collapse back on the bed and hide under her covers, like a child would. Everything was becoming an excuse.

She knew...

She won't tell her about Leon. Not in a million years.

"Leave me alone," She whispered, giving up in pathetic defeat. You couldn't do anything worthwhile being handcuffed. "If your going to continue making excuses."

Courtney placed her hands on her hips, amazed to see how her niece never changed since she met her as a young girl. A stubborn, persistent little girl.

"I could...but you think of me wrongly, my beloved niece. I don't want you to be taken away," Courtney turned away from her gaze, steadying herself. "If you work for me at the hospital, I'll give you a steady income and a place to live. In return, we'll test you very minimally to make sure you aren't infectious. What do you say?"

I should have died ages ago, Seraphina thought. As much as her pride wanted to deny the offer, she wasn't trying to be a lab rat for the government to pick apart. Knowing well what would happen. Sorry, Dad.

"...Okay. Fine. What hospital is this?"

"U.S. government owned hospitals. You might have to work at a couple of different places," Courtney faced her again with conspicuous smile. "I'm going to put you in as a nurse and you'll get top training. I'll change your last name for safety reasons. Nobody will know you survived Raccoon City's downfall."

Nobody will know.

Maybe it's for the better that no one knew.

Yet Seraphina wasn't satisfied at the thought—working away as a nurse was the last thing on her mind. Her mind still longed for the ice, the feeling of floating on air. Bejeweled and sparkly dresses, the vibrant makeup to match. It was all glamorous in her mind...but she quit a long time ago.

There was no use reminiscing over the past.

Too exhausted, Seraphina submitted to her aunt's request. She desired to avenge her father, but not now. The twenty one year old had nothing and wandered around like a ghost until she was rescued.

I'll wait.

A/N:
Hopefully that explains a bit more^^ no Leon or Claire this short chapter.
I'll probably go back and fix a few chapters, nothing too much. Thank you so much for reading this far, look forward to the RE4 fanfic soon :)

I want to cover a lot of this series with my oc and possibly even more characters including my favorites Jill and Carlos. If I am correct, re4 is first after this then the animated movies and series!
