THE GLASS WINDOW REFLECTED A YOUNG WOMAN with red rimmed eyes, dark eye bags, and exhaustion written all over her face. Seraphina barely recognized herself—her clothes were stained and covered in grime and soot. Some of her fingers were caked in blood, drying darkly as time passed.

She glanced down at the desk. It read;

I refuse to believe this. B.O.Ws? Are you insane? Why in the world would this be a good idea, William? It's not going to end well. No matter how talented everyone is here, messing with the virus is unpredictable. What's the benefit? ...

Parts of the letter had been ripped out.

DO NOT involve my family in this. Leave your B.O.W. man made freaks away from us. What do you mean about Stephen? Stephen is reckless. He won't harm us.

Instead of a letter, she quickly found out that it was a printed copy of a recording of some sort.

I'm going to stop this. She's still out there. Don't let those things after her!

The recording mentioned her father's name...Seraphina's head only seemed to ache more at the mysterious possibilities of the virus and what led her to the lab. At least she was getting close to the letter's goal of reaching the lab and figuring out what was going on. She promised him that.

Stephen Han must have figured out the virus beforehand. Why? He had worked as a reporter and writer, of course, most publishers wanted the eye-catching news story. Had he risked his life to get the worthy paper?

Was he so threatening, they kidnapped him to lock him away?

Dad went missing before the story broke out.

"We should continue getting back to the main lab," Leon gently moved the muscle in his shoulder, feeling for the new bandage tightly wrapped around it. It was secure enough. "With Ada's wristband, I should be able to—"

Crack.

Both of them jumped in surprise, hearing the familiar footsteps. Sure, they had been with the tyrant long enough, but they hadn't expected it to follow them all the way underground in the lab. Seraphina's eyes went wide as she saw the same glass window turn into a web of pieces.

No matter how many times she'd seen the man-like monster, it instilled the same, petrifying fear. Seraphina could harbor all the strength and power in the world, yet be nothing against that thing. In fact, due to the creation of the virus, there could be worse monsters... no. She had seen worse.

And this guy is just as annoying as all of them.

"Shit. Him again?!" Leon grabbed her wrist and dragged her backwards to avoid the impact. With its giant fist the size of a human head, it leaned back and the glass fell down into small pieces like they were nothing.

Little mice running away from the large cat.

A mouse cannot outrun the prancing, quick feline. It would be utterly pointless to. They both ran down the path into the office presentation rooms, but the tyrant refused to let them of it's sight. As if it was angered, it ran faster than usual, shaking the ground underneath.

The recording. It wasn't a coincidence. Mentioning her father's name, who else other than Courtney wrote it? Her aunt's name wasn't just an illusion. Seraphina quickly put two and two together—Courtney was here somewhere. Alive or not. That's how she even got here in the first place.

Something was after Seraphina, all because she was Strpehen Han's daughter.

If Courtney was still alive, she had a lot to ask.
