One of the many things Maya and Josh were afraid of was that their son would be born early because of both Maya and Josh's histories with early births. And that fear came true for them because on 28 February 2018, at 32 weeks, Maya went into labor. One of the many things that she hoped would get her through it all was knowing Josh was going to be there but it was also known that whenever a woman, regardless her age, goes into labor early little can console her.
"Ah!"
"You're doing good, Maya," Josh said.
Maya was in theater while the doctors were around her trying their best to deliver this baby safely. But Maya's pregnancy was a high risk pregnancy especially since she was so early with labor.
"Okay, Maya. One more push," he said as Maya pushed falling down on the pillow.
Suddenly she heard the baby crying as they laid a baby boy on her chest. Maya smiled looking at the little baby as she looked at Josh.
"We did it," Maya said.
"You did it," Josh said.
"Name?"
"Joshua-Parker Gabriel Matthews," Maya said looking at her sweet baby boy.
Josh looked at the baby while he was in the incubator. Of course they couldn't deny that the baby would need to be in one for the time being. He saw as his family was outside exhaling as he went out of the room.
"When can we see him?" Riley asked.
"Only me and Maya are allowed to see him for the moment. He's really little and it doesn't look like this will be as short as it was with me. They want JP to stay here for 3 weeks at least," Josh said.
"So we can't see him at all? Where's Maya? She will allow..."
"Riley, the doctors won't allow anyone else. And Maya is sleeping so please don't bother her. Birthing a child is exhausting," Josh said.
"Fine," Riley said.
"Go pop in at Maya's. She'll appreciate it. I just need to go and get her hospital bag at home can't believe I forgot that. Cory, you coming with me?" Josh asked.
"Sure, let's go," Cory said.
Riley walked down the corridor as she saw Maya sitting in her room looking through some pictures as she smiled knocking on the door.
"Hey, you. How you feeling?" Riley asked as Maya smiled.
"I'm good. Did you see JP?" Maya asked.
"Through the window but yeah. I did. He's beautiful," Riley said.
"My own little baby boy. Can't believe my luck," Maya said as Riley's phone rang.
"Study session. I'll drop by later. Bye," Riley said as she went out of the ward.
Maya smiled thinking back how amazing her birth truly was with everything going on around her. Her son was born so early but her life was perfect. Maya heard the door opening as she smiled seeing the green-eyed, blonde guy.
"Lucas, come on in. Riley had just left," Maya said.
"I actually came to see you. And to give you this," Lucas said handing Maya a bag which she opened.
"Oh my goodness, Lucas. JP will love this," Maya said.
"It's nothing. I actually need to talk to someone about Riley and I can't really go to anyone," Lucas said.
"Nonsense. Talk. What is it?" Maya asked.
"You know when she though she was pregnant awhile back?" Lucas said as Maya nodded.
"She then told me she could never imagine the two of us as parents. Or will never work. She sees our relationship as a high school fling," Lucas said as Maya exhaled.
"Huckleberry, I'm so sorry. I know how much you love her. What will you do now?" Maya asked.
"She broke it off last night. I can't anymore so this vacation I'm heading back to Texas. I just wanted to tell you. Me and Riley are over," Lucas said.
"Thank you for telling me and once again, I'm sorry," Maya said.
"I know. I better get going. I just wanted to bring the blanket. I'll see you soon. Bye," Lucas said leaving the room.
"Bye, Ranger Rick," Maya said as she exhaled knowing drama was coming soon.
