suspended;
all I had known of
extended
distorted.
my running thoughts
reflected in your eyes
colliding with my lungs
glances chaining me to the spot --
stopped
locked.
angry knots
tightening
fighting
in my chest
and in my breath
and in the space
hovering
stuttering
between my face
and yours
and all of the words
I refused to say
before today.
speaking
without breathing
mind racing
and waiting --
with your thoughts
shrouded in veils
of doubt
and wispy clouds.but then your smile broke through
like the sun at break of day
and my veins
caught flame
in the warmest way
and I alone know now
what you'd dare not say;
even those storms like you
must give way.
