Dust
When I reached out
I found that I could touch the universe
When I looked up
I found myself face to face with the gods
When I turned around
I found others there, waiting
And when I went to sleep
I knew I found what I wanted.But though I tried
It never settled
That constant need to get closer
And though I tried to jump and fly
It all ended with my fall. The swirls of wind pushed me down
My own self betrayed me
And I sit now, kicked to the ground
Amongst dust and blood and tears --
And I'm watching.I watch new ones reach out
I watch them touch the stars
I watch new ones look up
I watch none of them fall. But then every time I push myself up
Someone pins my back to the ground
But then every time I try to fix what I had
I slip and shatter and splinter.
