The truth is...

I knock on the door. I read the letter Nola told me about. He said he wanted to meet me. I was angry my dad found a way out of jail. Why?

Why didn't justice lock him up and make him pay for what he did? Why didn't they when I gave them all my evidence?

The audio, the notes and the CCTV were all on my phone! Everything was in order!

So why?

Truth is, my phone was my mother's. My mother kept all evidence of her death on her own phone.

The police officers didn't hesitate to give it to her daughter who she supposedly loved a lot.

Guess they didn't know any better. So now here I am. About to confront the murderer. My dad.

There wasn't a lot in the letter. It simply said:

Let me explain, come meet me. Dad.

He was never a man of many words. Just a man with many actions and power.

"Nova?" I hear him behind the door.
"The one and only." I respond. Sarcastically. I tap my foot impatiently while he fumbles with the lock, trying to open the door.

I didn't tell Aziel I was coming here. He was angry enough my dad got out of jail.
"You're here." Billy says like he can't believe it.

"No, I'm not. I'm just a ghost. Of course, I'm here dad. What do you want?" I say, passing through the door without his permission.

I sit on the large black couch and cross my arms. I hear him sigh.

"Listen, I know you're really not happy about me being out of jail and knowing that smart brain of yours, you're wondering why."

I scoff. He really thinks he's got me figured out, doesn't he? How could he when he was never here?

"So? Get to the point, Billy."

I don't look at him talking. Until he throws a hard object at me. "What the-" I start, heading to cuss him out. However I see the marble case and shut my mouth.

My moms phone with all the evidence on it.

I laugh like he just told me something unbelievable.

"Seriously? Did you steal the phone? Did you erase the evidence? Is that why you're out?"
I start applauding at his sneaky ways.

"Congrats, dad. You have done it again!"

"Please, Nova. Just listen to me before making assumptions that aren't even true." I stare at him, amazed at his soft voice. "Fine." I say.

"The evidence you had, it was sabotaged."

My eyes widen at his words. What? How? The phone was with me all the time, no one could've sabotaged it.

"By who?" I ask, wanting to know who the traitor was.

"Me." He responds and I've never been more confused in my entire life. "W-What?"

"You've been living in a lie, Nova. I sabotaged all the evidence on that phone years ago, hiding what really happened back then."

"W-Why?" I wanted to scream, but it barely came out as a whisper.

"To make me the bad guy in this story. I didn't want you to have a bad image of your dead mother whom you've always loved."

"So, I decided to remain the father whom was never present and the father you always hated."

I shook my throbbing head that was trying to process everything he just told me. Only one question was louder than all the others.

"What happened?"
