The next morning was... awkward to say the least Watching everyone trying to get along as we sat around mum's table for breakfast "Lovely Pol, bloody lovely" Aberama said.
"Thank you" she said, glancing at me as she stood up, collecting plates. "Anna, care to help me?" She asked I glanced over at Tommy by the window, just... staring out at the garden Ada seemed to catch on as she stood up
"I'll help Pol" she said, taking Bonnie and Arthur's plates.
I gave Bonnie a reassuring grasp on the arm, before I got up, making my way over to him Tommy side glanced me, before sighing "Something on your mind Adriana?" He asked "No. I just... me and Bonnie are leaving" I said
"Leaving? You think Pol will take that well?" He asked, still staring out the window "She won't. But she's doing better" I said, looking back at them clearing up at the table.
Bonnie and Aberama having also got up now to help. "So what do you want to talk to me for then?" He asked "Well, dear cousin. I just want to make sure I have your blessing" I said
"Why would you need that?" He asked "Because everyone seems to need your approval before they do something" I said "And yet nowadays everyone just does what they want any way" he said, sighing "No one fucking listens to me anymore" he stated.
"How rude of people to not bend to your every whim" I commented He glanced at me again, but never said anything "Tommy" I sighed "The point is. You took Michael away. I just want to know that when I leave. I'm not going to have shit following me. I don't want to live under a Shelby shadow. I want my own life" I explained.
"That's fair. But you have to be realistic" he said "In what way?" I asked "You will always have danger following you. Your name will follow you Adriana. Forever" he said.
"But... if you want to go. Then go, I won't stop you" he said "Because you're happy for me or because you know we'll be coming back regularly for Bonnie's matches?" I asked "Whichever one you prefer" he said.
I scoffed "I hope you find happiness Tommy. And peace... I truly do" I said He didn't say anything more. So I walked away.
I headed into the kitchen. Where Ada and mum stood washing dishes Ada caught my eye, and she gave me a swift nod, passing me the tea towel on the way out
