Luke Brooks
"Chew with your mouth closed, you disgust me," I snapped at Beau.
He just chewed louder.
Gripping the steering wheel, I turned onto Bradi's street.
She and Vanessa were waiting outside her door, on their phones. Most likely on twitter. Addicts.
I scoffed quietly and pulled up to her house.
"Need a ride?" I called.
They laughed and ran to get in.
"Did you text Shea and tell her we're coming?" I asked.
"Just did!" Vanessa smiled as Beau draped his arm around her.
"Ew, chew with your mouth closed," she ordered.
He laughed and obeyed her order.
"You don't make any sense!" I shook my head.
He laughed again.
Bradi giggled at something Jai whispered in her ear and that's when we all saw it.
The smoke swirling in the air.
"No, it's not," Vanessa said, not believing her eyes.
"It's the neighbor's house. It has to be," Bradi added.
I slowly pulled up to Shea's house and our nightmares were confirmed.
Smoke, fire, and ashes filled and surrounded the house.
And she was in there.
I jumped out of the car.
Daniel and James pulled up and did the same.
"What the hell is going on?!" James yelled.
I stared at the house, paralyzed.
Before I knew what I was doing, my feet were walking-no, running-into the house.
"Luke! Don't be an idiot! Get the fuck out of there!" Beau practically screamed.
"LUKE!" Bradi yelled.
I ignored them. The only thing going through my mind was to find Shea. Save Shea.
Something made a noise behind me and I turned to see Jai.
"We'll find her," he whispered.
Bradi and Vanessa were screaming their heads off outside and Beau, Daniel and James were left to deal with them.
I pointed in a direction for Jai to go as I headed the other way.
"We'll find her." His words repeated in my mind.
The ceiling began to cave in and the wall in front of me crumpled.
I saw the bright green tank top and grabbed for her.
She seemed to not comprehend what just happened and then she passed out.
"JAI!" I screamed.
He ran for my voice, I could hear his footsteps.
I picked Shea up, cradling her in my arms.
"Did you find her?" He called.
"I've got her! Where are you?" I called back.
I saw him standing in the doorway, walking towards us when the ceiling caved in completely, blocking the exit.
"Luke!" He yelled.
I turned to the hole in the wall where I got Shea, hoping to get out there. But flames blocked that, too.
I turned in circles, trying to find a way out. The room was filled with flames along the walls. They were moving towards us, fast.
Get Shea out safe, I thought. Get her out save.
"Luke! Hang in there!" Jai called.
There was a long creak and then a snapping sound. I jerked my gaze to the ceiling just as it comes tumbling down onto us.
