My memories

Autumn hooked me to a machine. I whimpered and felt someone slip a hand in mine. Apollo.

He squeezed my hand gently. I couldn't read his expression but could see the sadness in his eyes. I fucked up with Ellum.

Memories, my real ones, flashed in my mind. I knew what happened. Toast was evil.

We had been on the way to meet up with Cib and Wolfabelle. To figure out what to do with Toast and his team.

Our spy had lots of information for us. In fact our spy was Fundy. I sat up slowly and felt normal again.

"Thanks. I guess," I mumbled and bit my lip. Cib rubbed my back gently.

"I know it's overwhelming. It's gonna be ok bud," he whispered and pulled me into a hug. I buried my face into his neck.

"I'm so tired of this. Why can't we just win," I whispered and he held me close. I held him tightly before we pulled away.

"I knows. Don't worry. We will get through this. I promise," he whispered. I nodded and he helped me to my feet. I was shaking. "You remember where your room was?"

"Of course, I designed this ship," I responded and walked away slowly. Apollo kept holding my hand as I closed the door behind me.

"Steve. You need to get Ellum back," he whispered to me. I nodded and then sighed.

"I don't know how though,"

"I know. Ok? I trust you though. Koji needs Ellum though," Dumbdog said and left. I whimpered softly.

"Wait. Come back," I said, DK appeared. It was clear he was upset due to me fucking up the spell. I pressed my face to his neck. He held me tightly.

"It's ok bud. I promise," he whispered to me. I nuzzled him gently and pulled back a little.

"I killed Ellum. After he was already dead," I whispered and felt myself starting to cry. I realized how close I was to Ellum.

"Nobody blames you. We pushed you. But Smajor had an idea?" DK whispered softly in my ear. I looked at the ghost.

"Idea? To get Ellum back?" I asked quickly. He nodded slowly and sighed gently.

"He said to try the spell again. We don't know what will happen but it might work," he said. I stood up and took a breath.

"What if it doesn't? What if I mess up again?" I asked, fear as to what I could do. DK smiled at me and tilted my head to face him.

"We trust you Steve. Try it again. Please," he begged. I knew that DK and Ellum were close as hell. And I broke Kojis heart by failing. So what else did I have to lose?

"I can't! I won't! I refuse!" I snapped and focused. He vanished and I no longer felt their presence.

I did it? I tuned out the ghosts? He was gone. They were all gone. Could I bring them back if I wanted to?

Could I force them into visibility if I wanted? Make them be seen by me at least. I let my guard down and changed my focus.

Dumbdog appeared and looked at me. Koji showed up next. He looked at me with betrayal.

"Ellums gone. Why did you bring me here? I don't wanna see you!" Koji snapped. He tried to vanish but I forced him there.

"Koji I'm sorry. I wouldn't have done it if I had known," I said softly. Koji broke down at that and I hugged the shorter boy.

He hugged me closely and I sighed in defeat. I nuzzled him gently and felt Apollo sat down next to us.

"Steve. You have to try," Apollo whispered in my ear. I glanced back at him and he smiled at me.

I let Koji vanish and pulled Dumbdog onto my lap. I placed our foreheads together.

"I'm glad I remember you baby," I whispered and he smiled happily. I always loved his smile and his laugh. Sadly he wasn't laughing right now.

"Me to. I was scared you would never remember," he whispered and his smile slightly faded. I wanted to kiss him but I don't think that it work. He was still a ghost.

"I know. I love you," I finally responded to him. He smiled again and buried his face into my neck. He might have been taller but he preferred to be on my lap.

"Love you to baby," He said and I smiled. I slowly rubbed his back and watched as he vanished.

I felt alone again and wanted to try and force someone into visibility but I was tired from it. The door opened and I looked over. Cib knelt next to me.

"You have a bed in here and yet you choose the floor? Just like on earth," he said with a laugh. I smiled back and started to laugh with him.

"Just like on earth," I repeated back. He smiled and sat down on my lap. I smiled as this was normal but got confused when he rested our foreheads together. "Cib?"

"Yes Steve?" He purred. I shifted and wanted him away immediately. I let out a whimper and he tilted his head. "Steve?"

"Cib. Can I be alone for a bit. And you're being glared at," I said. He looked confused before he got up and stalked off.

So Cib wasn't fully normal. I didn't lie about him being glared at. Janet stood there and sat next to me.

"Hey. Trust Cib but keep your distance. He can get very....touchy," she explained softly. I had already figured it out though and nodded.

"I know. He's very different from what I remember," I said and saw Janet nod. She knew what I meant. She knew Cib before we went off earth

"People change. And Cib changed a bunch. He's not a bad guy," she said. I nodded again. I pulled her to my side and she curled into me gently.
