Spring came and went, as did Easter and one could see and feel the change in the air.  The weather was warm, the flowers were in full bloom and everyone felt more active.  Everyone except me.  In my last month of pregnancy I felt large, bloated, ponderous and every other synonym I could think of.  The baby was riding very low and putting a lot of pressure on my back, hips, and bladder.  Reflux was my constant companion but my cravings were worse as I had moved on from spicy to sour.  I wasn't very interested in sex but we still had it.  It amazed me that he still loved me after he put up with my bitchiness every day.  He did still call me beautiful although I didn't feel it.

The New Years Eve dress I had hoped to wear to Kyle and Laurel's wedding was now much too small.  James took me dress shopping and refused to let me buy a dress that hid my size.  He found a beautiful blue dress that showed all my curves.  I have to admit I loved how I felt in it.

James had two meetings with the chosen architects for the new Avengers facility.  True to his word, Nick Fury had rattled the money people enough that they had agreed to fund the construction of a state of the art community with proper housing for families, green utilities, and an outer profile that was secure from attack.  It was beside the military base but not considered part of it so our military staff could continue to live onsite.  A large landing pad could accommodate helicopters, spacecraft, and other short takeoff and landing aircraft.  A rich donor wanted to bankroll the purchase of four quinjets in exchange for a ride along on a mission.  Yelena took him on quite the ride but he followed through on his promise. The new facility would require a complete rewrite of security protocols which engaged James' attention.  He enjoyed being part of the whole process.  I couldn't resist his advances when he was in such a good mood after one of his thinking sessions and he learned sex was better if he waited.

Construction on our home started.  Once the structure was enclosed, the Army Corps of Engineers would install a secure and integrated electrical infrastructure for the installation of the newest Friday home edition.  Mike, the general contractor, had his security clearance and would be permitted onsite to assist.  If done right it would look like any other smart home installation.

The day finally came for our last doctors' appointment before the wedding.  Nadine and Dr. Themba were wonderful, assuring me it wouldn't be long.  We returned home and James drove the dogs to Sarah's.  When he returned he carried our bags from the bedroom, then texted Gus and Maria we would be there in a moment.

"Friday, request portal to Brooklyn location," he said.

The portal opened and we stepped through to the deck outside Gus and Maria's.  They waited inside until we cleared the portal before it closed.  Then they both came out with outstretched arms, hugs and tears.  As James took our bags to the pool house, Ma led me to the kitchen table.

"I can't believe you're here so close to your due date," she said clutching my hands.  "That portal is an amazing thing but is it safe?"

"You'll find out when we have the baby,"  I said.  "We've named you the grandparents so you can visit us right after."

"Gus, did you hear that?" said Ma.  "They named us the grandparents."

He nodded while he read his newspaper.  James came in and Ma made a big fuss of him, checking over him to make sure he was recovered from his January ordeal.

"When I saw how you looked when you were released I cried," she said, tearing up.  "They hurt my handsome boy and I wanted to hurt them back.  We called our congressman and our senator.  We weren't going let them get away with it."

"You and a lot of other people, Ma," said James, putting his arm around her.  "I had Gail in my corner and they never knew what hit them when she went on live tv."
